At the conference itself it was said DeNA is developing the games and uses Nintendo IPs.

No, that what could be taken away from the conference, that now in another interview was said Nintendo is developing the games is only confusing. So what they said at the conference was misleading, they meant something different it seems, probably the service part.

No, you wrongly took away that Nintendo would not be developing the games, from the conference.

Yes, and I wasn't alone. German Tech-journalists came to this conclusion too, I was reading at german news-sources, that DeNA was undertaking the development-efforts with access to Nintendos-IP-portfolio. Seemingly the conference was confusing.

They should if they really want to stay relevant, but not right now.

I'm now filled with determination.

Smartphone games and smartphone devices are on such opposite sides of business. Them releasing games is one thing but it would be foolish for Nintendo to release a smartphone with how current technology/industry trends are. In fact I'm almost positive Nintendo has no plans to release a smart phone, like ever (let's say within 7 years).
