What would Sony gain in buying exclusivity when the fanbase is already there? Can't see why they would do that. Waste of money.

Last edited by OttoniBastos - on 26 September 2024You would think that FF Type 0 has to sell well really but the problem we have here is that the FF 13 series absolutely dominated last gen on the Sony console, even though the console sales were pretty evenly matched worldwide.
This time around if the sales per console remain about the same (which I see no reason to think won't be the case) then the landslide this time around will be close to double again because of the almost double amount of PS4s in circulation compared to xbox one. Thats not going to look good for future games coming out of Japan for the Xbox system.
FF13 - 5.2 Million (PS3) 2.1 Million (360)
FF13-2 - 2.6 Million (PS3) 0.7 Million (360)
FF13 LR - 1.0 Million (PS3) 0.2 Million (360)
FF13 Total (8.8 Million PS3 - 2.9 Million 360)
Those gaps reach up to a 5:1 towards the end and are well over 2:1 in the best case scenario. With the sales gap currently 2:1 on the new gen consoles as I mentioned the gap in sales on FF0 and FF15 I expect to be wider than ever. That could spell trouble in the future for multiplats from Japan from Square Enix which is a big loss.
PREDICTIONS FOR END OF 2015: (Made Jan 1st 2015)
PS4 - 34M - XB1 - 21m - WII U -12M

This is a very good point. Last generation, the PS3 and 360 were neck-and-neck in terms of userbase. However, this gen is an entirely different story. Not to mention, a significant chunk of the PS4 userbase used to only play on the 360.

-Reinforce the demographic control(Aka "Here is where you plays X type of game") -Improve the Exclusive Software line up.(Exclusives are always overpraised/overcared even if it doesn't deserve) -New comers, people who never played FF before(like kids) will buy PS cause it's the only place to play it. -If Type-0 sells 500k like you said on Xone, this is,potentially,500k people willing to buy PS4 to play Type-1.
By locking games like FF in their platform, they are, long term speaking, locking consumers on their platform. It's a vicious cycle, you bought "[insert console]" to play Type-0,that is where you will buy next FF,and next Persona, and next Tales of,and on and on.... |
A jrpg fan already got the ps4 to buy tales, persona and so. Seriously, ps4 doesn't need more jrpgs to reinforce anything, and they are still getting them exclusively.. This isn't 360 vs PS3 where 360 was getting a great support on the genre. Spencer doesn't care about these games.
A good bunch of the 400k buyers are multi already.. Simply they like achievements better.
They are better off using those 30M to buy a true exclusive with selling power, like shenmue.

Phantom dust is good start, although i don't know how that project is going right now.Shenmue 3 would be ace since a lot of people have nostalgic feelings about it. I don't think any of this games would sell gangbusters though, but definitely would move hardware since it appeals for a different demographic that Xone is lacking right now. |
Well I gave up already, spencer simply dislikes the genre. It was great while Peter Moore was leading, feels like a mirage of sorts nowadays.
I'm tired of defending that, how Microsoft should diverse their line up, but when the head couldn't care less.. There's no point. I simply hate the guy, Xbox will go nowhere with him, well it will go to pc.. Literally.
Oh well, no need to respond to this post. I'm tired (and sad) of these conversations.
