Just speaking for myself, don't really care about Nintendo's well-being. I said in that original thread that I love this idea, as my daughter really enjoys mobile games, she is getting very good at Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. Now I have no reason to buy her a Nintendo handheld that I have been contemplating. It would have been a big investment, games are expensive, but now she will be able to enjoy many children-friendly Nintendo IPs at a fraction of a cost.
Those games cannot come soon enough, I'll surely be getting her some of those.
They said they wouldn't port existing games, but only make games specifically tailored for mobile and touchscreens.
So a plus for me, I've gotten tired with the lackluster or bland games on mobile, there are only a few games that really stick out (like Monument Valley, Leo's Fortune, heck, Angry Birds works very well on mobile)
For me it's a mixed bag. What makes Nintendo so good is their extreme focus on details and polishing a game until it shines and plays/controls exactly as they want it. If they leave it up to outsiders to produce these games, I just don't see that happening. I hope they release really good games on mobile (I hate gaming on mobile btw). But if it does become shovelware with their own IP on the package, that will be horrible.

No virtual console? :/
This is a good. They're going to try to get a piece of the mobile market by releasing probably stuff like Pokemon Shuffle and those types of games for smart devices, while still keeping their gaming platforms of handhelds and home consoles. I fail to see the real bad side

It's too early to tell. It completely depends on how invested they are in this strategy.
Good for Nintendo business-wise ... they will make a ton of money doing this.
Bad for gaming enthusiasts and die-hard gaming fans IMO.
In my opinion this is like opening pandora's box ... once the box is open, there will be no closing it.
Nintendo will get the taste of smartphone profits and it will lead to progressively more and more smartphone games and smartphone focus. The day where Nintendo's 2-3 top money making games are on mobile and not console/dedicated handheld are coming. And when that happens -- money talks, Nintendo will follow the money.

They meant they won't port recent 3DS or Wii U games. I have no idea for VC games.
