I don't think they could tbh. Phones are far more than games. Very big ask this..

I hope they make outstanding games, and start to change people's minds about the mobile gaming scene.

So much this. Rather than solely focusing on Angry Birds and Puzzle and Dragon show gamers that mobile is the future of handhelds and that expiriences like Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, etc. etc. (seriously too many great games can go here) can be just as good on mobile as systems like the 3DS. Its possible, a few devs do it but they are often shadowed by the garbage with bigger advertising budgets.

So, essentially, Nintendo becomes a huge 3rd party developer on smart devices? I find the idea of Nintendo IP's and talent used for mobile devices to be terrible from an artistic and gaming point of view but it is obviously a clever business move, and exactly what I've been saying they'll have to do to remain relevant in the long run.
Seems like they're finally coming around to understanding that they need to adapt to the market, not the other way around.

I do wonder how they'll cope with not having control over the hardware though, this has always been on their main strengths; the software/hardware synergy they have become famous for.
Unless they plan on making smart devices themselves, in which case; no, no, no, don't do it...

Very interesting... Though, I doubt that most mobile gamers care about gameplay all that much; they want something quick and fun to play in short bursts. I cant see a Mario platformer every working on a mobile, but Nintendo hace plenty of games that could work quite well! But, it would be foolish by Nintendo to make REALLY GOOD games on mobile, since they still want to push people towards their own hardware. They should use mobiles to drive people to their consoles, so they cant make TOO good games

Hmmm, maybe. Ninten is a master when it comes to making fun and enjoyable games. I won't rule this out as impossible ; )

I'm sure they will but I don't think they'll make conventional games so I'm not expecting 20hours RPGs (ala Fire emblem) of lengthy adventure games (Zelda). I think they'll try to create unqiue gameplay experiences that can be played in quick burts, then offer enough replayability and progression to keep people interested. Naturally they'll bring back brain training and Nintendo dogs, both of which died on the 3DS lol

Yeah, just like sega said that they wanted to be the top developer on consoles.
