not too shocking considering the highest rating for Mario Party on Metacritic is like early 70s. the series is one of those love it or hate it type, if you enjoy party games it can be fun but each game is so similar to the last.

Mario Party always had reviews in the 60-70 area. It's a party game, it doesn't deserve a high score and it doesn't need one either.

Even the older MPs got low scores, even though they are considered to be really good games.

This game is getting no one's sympathy when it's clearly another victim of those ruthless evil reviewers that just want to watch the world burn.

I might buy this game, I always enjoy playing this series with a bunch of friends, it's such a blast.

Read through GoNintendo's review, and as always it was very well written. Its less of a critical analysis and more of a general impression, but for a game like Mario Party, I think that is a lot more useful. Seems like the game has something for pretty much everyone.

This. My instincts were right about the first half of this year on Wii U. Splatoon should be the first of the really good games.

Loving all the salt in this thread, as if this proves Mario Party has gone to crap. Nevermind Mario Party hasn't scored good since Mario Party 1 on the N64. And even that only barely got a green.

@Slade6alpha I think he might have thought you meant the Wii Sports games (Sports, Sports Resort, etc), not the Mario sports games. Can't say for sure.

this series does everything that causes reviewers (who probably review it alone) to hate it. The game is meant to be played in a group where people are taking turns and passing controllers around. I doubt they play it that way.

Expected scores are expected.
