Forums - Sales - Can the XB1 take back the US crown?

Also, it was never micros crown to begin with, ps1 and ps2 were the top home consoles in the US. micro just borrowed it for a gen, the king has returned and taken his crown back.

ps4 will destroy the xbox in the united states. that will never change. microsoft just slows down the process by resorting to desperate and pathetic tactics just to remain relevant for two months.

It doesn't really matter at this point, sony has already accomplished what they set out to do. All they needed was to cut into microsoft's lead from the previous generation and it's done that and more already, at this point the xb1 will need to sell at half the ps4's price to come anywhere near its lead of yesteryear.

Let's hope they don't. Because they are "losing" Microsoft has been forced to make a lot of pro consumer decisions. They have, IMO, pushed a much better first party lineup than Sony has been able to deliver. I love my Xbox One. And as long as they continue to do what they're doing (after all, the Xbox One is NOT a failure), I'm going to be one happy customer. :)

PS4 certainly has an advantage, but a few games for the X1 could certainly change that.

Yes they can. If you mean take the lead in sales in the US. (King implies to me a form of domination)

Right now the gap is 650k or so. And will be around 850k by the end of the month. Do I think they can overcome this? Yes. If PS4 remains at 400 this holiday with XB1 getting Halo and other major titles I think it can catch the PS4 in sales by the end of the year. I see the PS4 build up to a 1.2 million lead and I think in the situation I described XB1 can catch it.

Don't see how that will happen. Its almost like people just can't accept that when it comes to NA, their is no such thing as console loyalty. People seem to think that somehow the XB1 should by default win NA because of how well the 360 did last gen, but forget what happened to the PS2 and PS3.

Last year by this time the gao was less than 300k, by October it was around 1M, this year by October it will be around the same, and this is all before the inevitable PS4 price drop. every year that gap will get worse. And its pretty much conoketeky downhill for the XB1 after halo.

I think the biggest tell this gen between the PS4 and XB1, is simply this. The PS4 doesn't seem to need killer exclusives or a lower price drop to be doing better than the XB1. Where does that leave the XB1 when Sony starts playing those cards?

yes, that is why in my scenario Sony cant drop the price for it to work.

its funny you say that because that is a huge part of why last gen went the way it did. You could get the low end Arcade bundle for 150 dollars or more cheaper than the PS3.

It's very possible, but not by a wide margin. I think the PS4 & X1 will be very close to each other when the generation ends.

I got the answer to how to make the Xbox One win. Get all their best engineers working on a 360 emulator that works flawlessly on Xbox one so that all retail games work, and all the XBLA stuff carries over...job done

PREDICTIONS FOR END OF 2015: (Made Jan 1st 2015)

It has a good shot to do so. If last November was any indication, should the Xbox One match the sales or even surpass them, then taking back the US could happen. However, keeping within line of the PS4 sales from Jan- October is just as important. Should Microsoft achieve this, the One has the ability to do so. Otherwise, if it cannot keep competitive with the PS4 in those months, then it will be very difficult to achieve; even with 'Galaxy Busting' November months.

I don't see this happening. By October this year, there should be a PS4  lead of over 1.2M. 200k more than what it was by the same time last year. for the XB1 to take the lead in NA, then it has to sell 600k+ more than the PS4 in both November and December. Just don't see how that is remotely possible.

It doesn't even stand to sell garner as much if a gap this year if Sony actually trys to compete this time and drops its price.
