Forums - Gaming - BREAKING! Valve gets an F from BBB.

I wonder what the point of Valve's existence in 2015. They are not making software any more. They are not making hardware except for that joke controller which is unlikely to enter mass production. They are not making any quality control. The only means of promoting games they have is that cluttered new release window and -85% sales which are steadily pushing PC market into smartphone f2p-fest. Their only function is to serve as dump for games (which you can organise yourself by installing wordpress and doing few mouseclicks) and routing people into their huge f2p timewasters, which fortunately will probably die soon after much more experienced developer is currently making killers for those games.

In few years Gaben will probably sell the company to one of the major publishers and retire to do locksmithing or whatever he likes.

Valve customer service is the grade below horrible. I'm not even talking about with games made by other developers, I mean their own. I remember when Portal wouldn't work for me when I upgraded to Windows 7 and my only recourse was to shift through their database and the forums. They actually did not have any customer service personnel.

When I worked with Microsoft, that complete lack of customer service was a noted issue, as there was literally nowhere to redirect a customer with technical problems. Someone calling about trouble with a Valve game on the 360? Sorry, you're on your own.

There is one ningling thing I find annoying about Valve and that's how they don't have their different language regions locked off from one another, I'm not talking about games though, I'm on about their forums, I go to look for help, guides and general talk about the game and possible tweaks and then I;m met with thread after thread in chinese,Russian and other non english languages, I know I can't speak them but for the love of all that is holy please just make it so they have their own seperate forums to post to in their own region/country, the majority of the UK doesn't speak russian or chinese than those that speak english let alone the US, there's no reason to lump non english speakers in with those who speak english, especially if neither can communicate since all it does is bury both together and make it more annoying and difficult to find answers.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

BBB are completely a private company and who grades them? Pile of nonsense. Not even sure why people give them free advertisement by talking about them. Even if the company doesn't correspond through them, but fixes the issue, BBB say they didn't respond.Anfd to prove my point about what bribes can buy, here is WALMART WITH AN A+

While, admittedly, I don't live in the USA, I have experienced their customer service in other countries outside America, and I have heard many an-anecdote from Americans themsevles, but Walmart actually has pretty good customer service. You can launch just about any complaint and, usually, they will give you your money back or let you exchange. In store as well, employees have to be as helpful as physically possible, I've had friends working for the company who can attest to this.

Complain what you want about Walmart, but one thing they're good at is serving customers. That's how they got so big.

Knowing the gaming community, i am certain that these were all politely written complaints about reasonable and easily resolvable issues that were in no way based on a misguided sense of entitlement or reality.

Shame on you Valve!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

i totally agree. it took them 1 month to get back to my question on steam and the answer they gave me was something i already found by searching through the forum and it doesn't work. By the time they gave me that message i already solved my own question. Its truly terrible.

This is true.  There are a LOT of things I don't like about Walmart but they are perfectly willing to eat a loss in order to resolve a customer's issue.  They constantly bombard their staff with the idea that customer service comes first.  That is far more deserving of a good grade than Valve's approach.

Someone apparently does not know about the community markets in Dota 2 and CS: GO.  They just had a conference.  VR + Source 2 coming.

But still, an A+ should be held for the very best. I alone have had 2 customer service problems with walmart. 1 was with a wiimote box I had purchased. On leaving the store, i realized it was a little light. I noticed there was tape on the bottom of it. I opened it and it was stuffed with plastic. I went back in and they would do nothing for me. The manager even came across and refused to do anything. I have had good experiences with them and bad. They are no A+

Top outline the cronyism within the BBB system I should have used a better example though :/

I guess the only way for Valve to get a better score if they make Half-Life 3 :P
