You know, if you have some soldering skills you can fix most of those things with the cut cords. As long as the pcb board isn't messed up it should be a fixable situation.

Just to let you guys know, when I managed at Gamestop we threw away plenty that wasn't defective. I had to trash so many games and accessories that worked fine. We even bought back items in working order and when printing out the tickets from a buy back it would print out a field destroy sticker.
Of course that's not counting all the manuals, cover art and cases we would have to throw out. I suggested recycling or reusing the plastic cases once and got chewed out by my regional manager. One of the most wasteful companies I have ever worked for.
Sounds more like he's just mad that he wasn't able to take the stuff for himself for free. Especially the part where he finds the text pad for the Xbox controller and says "I could use this" and takes it.

Makes a lot of sense.
If they're greedy they won't throw away perfectly good stuff. The items were broken, that's why they got rid of them.

I propose to change the title of the thread to:
"Garbage man tries to tell people how to run their business"
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
- George Orwell, ‘1984’
A cord is sometimes a surprisingly easy thing to fix.
But like others said about the games, the accessories probably don't work that well either. So even if you fixed the cord, you might not be able to use it anyway.
But some of that could be inventory reduction. And if they destroy them so that they don't drive the price down.
I used to do this every time I went to my cousins house when I was a kid. We would hop his back fence to get to the blockbuster dumpster.
It's how I got Star Ocean 2 on PS1.
They then began breaking the discs when they threw them away.

Note when he finds the 360 keypad, it switches from "you could donate this stuff" immediately to "actually i could still use this". Then he shows socom, "Actually im glad you cut this", oh because YOU dont like it, what about these poor kids in hospitals you keep harping on about, maybe they would have wanted to play it?, yeah.. whatever dude. Why not donate the keyboard dude? oh right, you want it. |
Well actually I think he said that about socom because sony shut down the servers for all the socom games and that one in the video was online only.
But yes this guy seemed really disappointed that the games were cut.
