Mario has a broader amount of games I've enjoyed though. I adore the RPG games on handhelds

I couldn't disagree more with the 2D part.

Super Mario World was the superior game, and Super Mario Bros. 3 was amazing, but 2D Sonic games were superb.

The fun factor was way greater in old Sonic games than Mario games to me.

I still replay them very often and I've been playing them since I'm 6 and I still can't get enough of it.

I guess that I enjoy intuitive platformers more!

I love the classic Sonics (I have the 3D one on my 3DS!), but Mario has, is, and always will be excellent. Can't say the same for Sonic, unfortunately...

Mario easily wins this.
The "speed" thing doesnt translate well into other type of games.
Mario has had RPGs that where amasing.
