With Ridley, you actually get to battle him many times, so you can really develop a relationship with him. He is also the leader of the space pirates. The Prime games showed how great they are with the scans, and that really reinforces how great he is too. Plus, he looks like a freaking space dragon. I mean, come on, that is just sweet.

The Metroids are just scary as shit. It is always bad news when they are around. Some of the sequences in the Prime games are really freaky with these guys. It is true they don't seem to have much motivation, but that is just because they are more animal like. The fact that they are a nearly uncontrollable force of nature makes them that much scarier.
