Each price drop from here on in should have a significant impact (at least in my opinion) because the console is approaching mass market price points. The reason why I think they will help the 360 more is because it reaches those price points first. Basically I think it helps the 360 to get first crack at the consumers who're sitting on the fence over price and that are still undecided about which console to get.

I expect the 360 to be at $179.99 here in the U.S, and it will destroy the ps3 in sales, sony will react by droping the 40gb to $299.99, and this is the point were I believe wii sales will drop(hard).

My prediction,also I believe this price cut in the netherlands will not have a huge effect on 360 sales.

Hm. Nice. That will surely shift a lot of consoles. Still, I won't get get one. I mislike the RROD. Never will I buy anything that's so like to break.

 I am sure other countries will follow it will not be only in the Netherlands =).

Still wouldnt buy one if the price drop comes to the UK but its good news if it forces the PS3 to take a price drop as i will pick up one of them. Never got a PS2 due to failure rates wont get a 360 due to failure rates.

I would be surprised if Sony drops their price anytime soon. It's still at a price where they're losing money on each one sold and if they ever plan on having the hardware profitable it would make sense for them to wait. Having a price drop now would just put that goal even further down the line. It's also probably risky considering PS2 software sales, the thing that is likely helping to prop up the PS3, are likely to continue to fall each year as more people move on to new systems.

 You missed out on a lot of good games then.  The 360 hardware is becoming more reliable and the hardware will likely be very solid from here on in.

All I'm saying is this does result in a Ps3 price drop VERY near GTA Iv, say a week before it comes out...

Yeah this kinda puts the PS3 in an awkward and potentially dangerous position. If Sony don't lower the PS3's price they risk Xbox 360 gaining the upper hand, however if they do lower the price that wouldn't be an economically wise move. At all. Seeing as how they're already losing tons of money with the machine..
