Tbh, I actually like FFVIII more than FFVII. But I don't really like either games all that much anyway, so that's not surprising. You pretty much hit the points on FFVIII, the game play is odd though experimental. It can be a deep system with customizing stats and weapons with magic. But I don't think the system works particularly well, it should've just gone with a standard turned based battle system, though I do commend FFVIII for being different.

I think the soundtrack is excellent, was just listening to it again a few days ago. Yes, the story does start out slow although, Disk 2 does pick things up. However, Disk 3 does have weird pacing but it does have its moments. The characters will get better in terms of being likable and you will feel how connected they are by the end of the game. So it seems that you think FFVIII is a little weird but an alright game which is pretty much how I feel about the game. But seriously, beat FFVIII and get to FFIX (Easily the best PS1 FF imo).

Also, have you watched Spoony's review of the game? If not, you should watch it after you beat the game. It's hilarious!

That's great XD

I'm doing FF9 after I beat this one, but I'll still give my final impressions about 8 before it. Hope you enjoy it as well

Omg! FFIX is one of my favorites, hope you enjoy it as much as I did, especially with collecting/discovering all the secrets with the moogles and chocobos in the game .

I don't even know who is Spoony, but I can search for it after I beat the game

Also, yeah, I know some people here love this game, I'm not stopping here, I'll beat it, I want to do it. I hope I enjoy it more from now on

I suggest marathoning the game when you get close to the end (you will know).  :D

Every now and then FFX and FFVIII switch placees in my top 2, depends on the mood I guess.

Well, I can try to do that

Which is the top 1? FF7?

Nah FFX or FFVIII is 1st or 2nd. I find FFVII not as good as most.

You'll try FFIX after this one, right?!

The game was definitely disappointing when I played it. I ended up getting the PC version when it was released in early 2000. And to this day, it's my second least liked game in the main series, once FF13 stole the top honours. Seems like Square wanted so desperately to try and top FF7 that they tried to make it as different as possible, with limited success in my opinion. And they drifted too far into sci-fi, in my opinion, though I am not bothered by that aspect of it these days. I thought the series was a lost cause after playing it, but I'm glad they got their shit together for FF9 and FF12. And following the trend of one good game, one bad game pattern they have been having for quite a while now, I have high hopes for FF15.

Junction system is a great feature and many dismiss it because they don't understand it or know how to exploit it. I've played the game loads of times yet after the first say 30 minutes I rarely have ITEM option equipped for example, you don't need it mostly.

The GFs being so powerful early on is meant to be like that. They give the edge in battle but with limited health and them taking the hits using them too much can mean they cannot be used at all. They also take time to cast you while another character is drawing magic or hitting away, the character who activated GF is just standing there. In later game they are pretty redundant except Cerberus. Except for actually making magic that is, make sure you make your GFs learn to change items into magic, and you never need to draw again either.

The idea of 'Limit' isn't like FF7, not at all. It's there as a desperation move not a move after taking a certain amount of hits. It's actually these limits that break the game so yo speak. Once you get the magics Meltdown and Aura. The game is pretty much over. :)

Hmm, pie.

My favourite FF, hope you're enjoying it BraLoD! :)
