Forums - Gaming - YII2: A Postmodern RPG new trailer - PC/PS4/PSV/WiiU

Looks interesting, the art style reminds me of costume quest.

The premise is ripped off from "Durararara!".

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Having the word "postmodern" in the title makes it too self aware. Parody is more fitting unless it actually succeeds in mimicking what it's trying to mimic and the game is actually focused.

and that music...ugh....

The art style is all over the place lol. Ive seen a mix of Tearaway, JSR and LSD, kinda like it.

What I dont like are the hipster characters. Thought this was a Japanese game until a bearded 30s something hipster glass wearing white male dressed like a lumberjack showed up. You can imagine the dissapointment...

The character art style is also meh. Looks like your typical American designed 2D cartoon characters. Most indies have characters that look like they came out of a flash game. They really should hire a Japanese animator to complete the "Japanese styled" picture.

ugh

What I dislike is that cartoon like art style.

It looks interesting, a bit stiff, but the art style is nice.

That song is odd but it grew on me when I heard it for the second time. I hope it plays the camp route and gives that uneasy fantasy setting it's trying to pull in a videogamy reality but deliver a strong genuine emotional twist.

I'm also keeping my eye on this one.

Wow, wasn't expecting so much negativity. Seems there are mixed reactions about the art style, but everyone seems to hate the music. I was indifferent to the music, but that's probably a bad thing too. I like the art style, and the potential of the puzzles intrigues me more. Can't tell from the trailer and the OP whether I'll like the combat system. If it's cheap enough, I'm likely to get it on Wii U simply because a member of VGChartz worked on it (that won't always be my reaction to games developed by VGC members).
Was this done with Unity?
