Prior to that the game was still pretty new, and sold tons on hype for the franchise alone.

Like I said, the first few weeks the game sells on hype. Do you really think Ubisoft would have bundled the game so soon if they expected it to continue selling?

If we go by the sales of AC Unity on the PS4 then the obvious answer is yes ...

You don't know what Ubisoft's intentions were behind that decision until you can show something tangible to back it up ...

No one knows why Ubisoft decided to bundle the games with the already discounted Xbox One for so long, but there is a good chance it was due to fears of losing sales.

Also, there was an absolutely massive decrease in sales for Unity compared to Black Flag the year before. Black Flag alone had 10 million sales compared to 10 million combined sales for Rogue and Unity in the same period of time, and the Unity sales include the sales it got by being bundled with almost every Xbox One unit sold over the holdiays (1-2 million from just that, easily).

M. Night Shamalan (sp) claims that The Last Airbender was his vision for the movie. Doesn't mean it didn't suck.

I never said they made a mistake ;)

I just said it wouldn't hurt to have an easy mode. And I complained not about the game itself but about the people who were against an easy mode because of a certain reason. Which could be implemented with next to no effort on the developer's part and with no influence to the core game itself.

Now making The Order a more welcoming game to mainstream tastes(which it apparently isn't) would need the whole game to be changed.

I know you thought you had a good point with this but you are completely mistaken about my intentions.

Eh, in this thread you are arguing for "artistic integrity" and in the other thread you are not. Developers need to make the game THEY want not what the market tells them to make. Case Closed.

But yeah, change your story to preserve the points you want to make. Either way, have a nice day :)

Developers have all the artistic integrity they want. I rerspect FS to make the game as hard as they want, though I wished for myself(!) that they would insert an easy mode.

It seems you have not grasped the point of this thread either. Artistic vision does not omit criticism. Which is why RAD gets so much flag for their game and which is why people are begging FS to implement an easy mode.

And if you read this OP carefully you will even see that I specifically said that there is no reason to defend or attack the developer for their artistic vision. Which I don't. Developers don't need defending. They're doing their thing and other people do their own.

In the other thread I'm not attacking the developer for their artistic vision. I'm attacking the defenders for their ridiculous fears that an easy mode would change the game.

Losing sales when the franchise regularly sells over 8 million copies for every recent installments ? Yeah right ...

If anything there's more reasons to believe that it's Microsoft who cut a deal with Ubisoft in order to increase the sales of the Xbox One since it was their last-ditch effort to gain some wind ...

@Bold That is a lie going by the data we have here ... AC4 sold a total of 7 million copies before 2014 and by comparison ACU+ACR sold around 6.5 million copies so that's hardly a cause for concern plus it wasn't until mid 2014 that AC4 was able to reach 10 million copies.

What more is that AC4 for the Xbox One was barely able to pull off a total of 1 million units last holiday and not of all of it was contributed to bundling since it was able to sell 50K just before the bundle hit so even if we assume that a large portion attributed to 70% that's far off from your 1-2 million range ...

This is all besides the point ...

I'm really liking The Order 1886 so far. Having a blast playing it today! Idk what the fuss is about. I'm 35 and no fanboy as I like PlayStation, XBOX, Steam, Nintendo. A good game is a good game idc who makes it. I also never care about what reviewers say because I learned a long time ago the only opinion I care about is my own. =D

Also looking forward to Until Dawn! Looks interesting imo.

They made the game that they wanted to make, and not something designed to compete with what's already there. Nothing wrong with that. So far, from what I've played, it's a solid game. The cutscene-gameplay transition is flawless, the story, characters, and universe are very interesting, the gameplay itself is fluid and solid, and the game is virtually glitch free. They didn't take part in the penis measuring contest, and now they're getting hate for it.

I'm really not trying to be a fanboy here, but I can't help but notice that people are so quick to bash it for not being revolutionary or genre defining, yet will praise games like NSMB, DKCTF, MK8, Halo, CoD, etc., to no end. There's a clear double standard, not only amongst fanboys (that one's been obvious), but amongst the people who actually get paid to do gaming journalism, and The Order has proven that fact. If you actually read a lot of the reviews being posted on Metacritic, most of them just blather on about the game being more of the same, yet give no reason as to why it's actually bad and deserves anything lower than a 7. It's literally a conglomerate of reviews similar to AV Club's UC3 review.

That being said, I hope the game sells well and R@D keeps their heads up high and get's to work on a sequel, because the franchise is already on my radar.

Where there no teens and pre-teens back when Lair launched? I also find you view as offensive as people saying that Ninty games are for children.

well, too bad if you're so so offended. I'm just saying that a lot of pre-teens and teens buy games for graphics even if the games are not good or critically acclaimed.

Feel free to explain Lair's sales at any point.

Before you go calling out people as liars, check to make sure you have your own facts straight.

That being said, yes, we are far off topic. To each his own.
