A Kirby game getting criticized for being too hard...I never thought I would see the day

Its definitely curious, especially since the last Kirby game was criticised for being too easy xD

OT: Its a shame its so low right now, but hoping that the reviews to come bump it up a little bit. It does look like a fun game at the end of the day.

Maybe the reviewers just suck at the game? :P.

It is funny though.

Meta is 72 now.

I made the maths, and is strange, it should be on 74 now, but is 72...

Weighted average.

Indeed. I am still looking forward towards purchasing this game. The scores are average, but the enticing charm is there for the game; especially how it presents itself. A charming blend of not only simplicity, but attention towards vibrancy as well. As you stated, looking forward towards this.

To be fair in my opinion working perfectly and having no glitches is the least a game should do, so if that's the only thing going for it, a 4 out of 10 sounds reasonable.

But then games like Unity or MCC had to be lower than 4

If they felt a game was unstable and mediocre, then sure, it should be rated lower than a comparatively mediocre but stable game. If it's a decent/good but unstable game, it could still justify a higher score. Would depend how much their enjoyment was impaired by said instability.

It's worth noting they did also give ACU a 4/10 (they haven't reviewed the MCC, but gave DC a 4/10 too).

As much as I hate to be the guy who suggests that, it really does sound like it after reading the Gamespot review. Pretty much the whole thing was complaining about how the reviewer could never get a hang of the gimmick. Reminds me a bit of Kid Icarus Uprising, where some reviewers could never get the unique control scheme down, and as such heavily criticized the game. That criticism is fair enough, but it should be looked at next to reviewers like GameXplain, who say that "the difficulty is gradual and everything works well".

A "7" for me means "Good".

6 is average/okay.

5 mediocre and bland.

I'm expecting something between 75-79 for this game. Still possible.

Wow, that's a crazy split. 9/10 from Destructoid and 4/10 from Giant Bomb? What a range.

I'm extremely amused by some of these reviews.

A 5/10 from GameSpot? They're complaining that it's too difficult and it takes time to get a hang of the controls because, god forbid, a game takes longer than 1 minute to learn. Aren't they the ones that docked points off of Triple Deluxe for being too easy? I guess I should've expected as much since they were the same ones to criticize Tropical Freeze for its difficulty.

And really Giant Bomb? A 4/10? And your critique is that it's "soulless"? From where I'm standing, it looks to be one of the most charming games of the year (next to Yoshi's Woolly World).

Regardless of the reviews, I'm still getting this game. I think it'll land in the high 70s or low 80s for its meta, depending on how the other big sites like IGN score it. This is typically how Kirby games are rated anyways; they're not exactly the types of games that wow reviewers because it's either they play it too safe (Return to Dreamland, Triple Deluxe) or they try something completely different and the reviewers get scared (Rainbow Curse).
