Forums - Gaming Discussion - Issues with IGN's MM3D Score

Is IGN full of idiots?

Yes 228 67.66%

No 109 32.34%

Total:337

In my opinion for Remakes they should keep The same score or increase it. Otherwise they are showing that their predecessors where people who gave points willy-nilly.

It's the new swimming controls, the temple itself is pretty straightforward.

So you're telling me that someone is an idiot because they have a different opinion than you?

No because the give dumbass reasons for the cons

Thats like giving a Mario game an 8.2 and the give only one con being "World 2-3"

So read the full review. Obviously the pros and cons are short snippets of the review, but they don't give an accurate picture of how the reviewer really feels. If you don't want to do that then just don't go to IGN for reviews or something . . .

Also, they're different reviews with different opinions.

Games don't start off at a 10 point rating, you know that right? A review doesn't start off at 10 and take points off.

Well they give the original Majora's Mask a 9.9, so they took off 1.2 points for the exact same temple

Different people reviewing. One person thought the game was almost worth a 10 back then but another person right now thinks it's only worth a 8.7 which is very reasonable considering it's a very old game.

Remakes tend to use a 9 point scale...

You really don't know how this works. They start at 0. Not 10. They didn't get rid of 1.3 poiints, they added 8.7

Plus, the swimming controls are different in this game compared to the original.

Persona 4 Golden got a 9.3

They also gave the Last of Us Remastered a 10

Read: tend

I'm not saying its a rule or anything, just remakes often get points deducted for being remakes. Obviously different reviewers will have different opinions on how remakes should be handled...

Actually read the review to learn what's wrong with the game, as far as those bullet points at the end are concerned IGN always writes the weirdest things about them.

I've actually read a lot of reviews, and most of the complains are the same: the way the new save system works, the controls when played like a goron and zora, and the loss of the sense of dread, and overall how the game doesn't work so well as a handheld experience.

Seems like good enough reasons not to overly praise the game, and of course opinions and all.

Persona 4 Golden has a ton of extra content that wasn't in the original and even new characters in the story. The Last of Us remastered is a game of the year edition that just came out on PS4 a year after the original release, not the same thing at all. Comparing that to a game that came out a decade and a half ago doesn't work.
