So, this is my first time doing this on 3DS/MH, how do we do this? XD

I guess we exchange friend codes,  then on the world map, select the solo/multiplayer tab and switch to online multiplayer, then join in to a person on your friend list's Gathering Hall.  I've got my friend code on the first page of the thread.

Ok, I'm online now, how do I find my friend code? My username is Phasmatis, I'm in the Gypceros room.

It's on your home menu.  Tap the little orange smiley block and go to your mii.  Your friend code should be underneath your name.  I'll just list mine here.
