Does anyone know for certain whether NPD combine Vita and PS TV sales, or are these reported separately? Also is there a link anywhere to confirm this?

Yep I saw you a little before posting. But several posters are missing (the ones that were overjoyed of x1 success on holidays, the ones that expected ps4 to have outsold X1 even with Amazon and VGC suggesting strongly against and even the ones that were happy WiiU had good numbers)... Depressing month.
We have agreed several times when we were talking about more neutral subject.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."
So XOne and Wii-U already overtracked even with one week of sales still missing. Can't say i'm surprised really, especially with Wii-U(no reason why it would be up from last year). PS4 seems pretty accurate.

Ah, so that rule only works 2 months of the year?
You know quite well all the factors that work in these 2 months apart from the price.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
Xbox One going up 7% when its price of entry is $150 is pretty awful
Market leader being under 200k is also bad
Don't see the need for doom talk about the industry yet. We need to see what happens in the next few months when big games start to come out again, and when Sony inevitably drop the price at some point this year.

Noses meet coffee. I hadn't checked 2nd January numbers for 7th gen PS/Xb before today. The fact that the best selling console of this generation is 70K behind what was considered to be a monumental f&#k up of a console destined to be a distant 3rd place (at the time) should surely be a huge wake up call to people that the 7th gen was the peak generation for consoles, even without factoring in the Wii fad. Assuming Nintendo does go for a 2016 9th gen entry, this is likely to be a pretty short generation. Which will mean a struggle for PS4 to reach 100 million in the timeframe, and a struggle for Xb one to get past 50 million. MS isn't going to be all that strongly motivated to extend this generation like they were with 360 if they are just managing to be on par (at best) with PS4 in UK and USA and getting crapped on everwhere else. And Sony isn't going to give both MS and Nintendo a year or more free hit at the 9th generation.

People talking about doom and gloom of the console market need to stop being siily. Both the PS4 and the Xbox one are up on their predecessor at the same point in there life cycle.
PS4 and X1 are in desperate need of top quality AAA, next gen exclusive games, some of which needs to be new IP.
We need this gens version of Gears, Uncharted, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls, Assassin's Creed & Mass Effect
Something AAA, something new and something that gets crticial acclaim and has mass appeal
I agree Celador. I'm not cool with these overdone remakes and shitty indie games.
