Forums - Gaming - Let's try and guess 2015's GOTY

Who will win the most GOTY awards?

Bloodborne 14 4.93%

The Witcher 3 29 10.21%

Batman Arkham Knight 8 2.82%

The Legend of Zelda U 105 36.97%

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain 22 7.75%

Persona 5 7 2.46%

Uncharted 4 72 25.35%

Other (please state) 27 9.51%

Total:284

I'm gonna go with MGSV.

I'm surprised that Skyward Sword won so many (15) GOTY awards given how most people treat it online. I'd say Zelda has the best chance followed by Metal Gear and Batman.

Goes to show video game awards are silly.

Persona 5 will be ignored for being too niche, much like Bayonetta 2 was ignored on many sites this year.

I think Zelda and Bloodborne are the front-runners right now. Hopefully a game comes out of nowhere to be a contender as well

It's GOTY which is basically a massive marketing circlejerk in most cases. Do we really still care about these things?

If Persona and Bayonetta get ignored for being too niche then wouldn't the same also apply to Bloodborne?

You could argue that, but it's essentially a Souls game, which have been very popular in the past on GOTY lists.  I think Persona and Bayonetta are more niche than the Souls series in the West. Dark Souls II sold 400k in the US alone in it's first month, sales the other two series could only dream of.

I'd say Xenoblade Chronicles X and the unnamed Fire Emblem game (or the Shin Megami cross-over that we have no info about) has a decent shot. Maybe StarFox but that's kinda stretching it unfortunately. Oh and maybe Splatoon!

I'd almost be willing to bet my life that Splatoon wont win the most GOTY awards.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Yeah... i think MGSV will end up beeing the critical darling... so either that or the Witcher 3 if it ends up having really good pacing and combat, wich might be optimistic. Uncharted 4 has a chance aswell because of the graphics junkies.

The real one though? Probably Persona 5 or Xenoblade chronicles X.

Yet Bayonetta got more GOTY awards last year than Dark Souls did...

Bayonetta 2 - 22
The Critics' Picks - 17
The Readers' Picks - 5

Dark Souls II - 15
The Critics' Picks - 12
The Readers' Picks - 3

So it did. Almost everytime I saw a thread about a site's GOTY nominees Bayonetta 2 seem to be ignored. Guess I was looking in the wrong place. Still more niche than Souls, so Bloodborne should have a chance if it lives up to expectations

Easily Uncharted 4 since ND is the fetish of the industry's circlejerks.
MGS V could be have been contender, but the fact it's japèanese will be a detraction. (also it's not ND, and it's not an exclusive).
Bloodborne is too niche.
ZeldaU is made by Nintendo.
Batman and Witcher are going to win some awards but, they're not made by ND and they're not exclusives.
Persona 5 it's noo niche and too japanese.
