Pretty sure he's just recycling/regurgitating talk of Nintendo looking to get the Harry Potter license from way back in 1999/2000 for Rare. It has little to no relevance to Nintendo today and really wasn't *that* big of a deal even back then. Nintendo had used the James Bond license and had the Star Wars license too, so bidding for Harry Potter just seemed like a natural thing to do especially back when Rare was the biggest UK based developer in the world. 

Nintendo is always thigh with information for their upcoming game. Unlike SCEI or Microsoft which intended to leek the info to people to start the hype (controllable information leak). Nintendo seem don't have that kind of strategy.

That was actually quite expectable, there aren't may IPs "as big as star wars", also it perfectly fits Nintendo. I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter but it could have been interesting.
