Wow, I'm surprised. Never thought Activision would do such a thing. =o But an even bigger surprise would be if they used NFC toys to play the game this time. Truly innovative.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I don't think you really understand the differences between Skylander toys and Amiibos, in the last case you don't need Amiibos to enjoy the game, you have your full roster of characters even if you don't buy ANY amiibos, and they actually work with different games not just one for some small extra stuff that is also completely optional to the game. In the case of Infinty and Skylanders you actually NEED the figurine to use the character, there is no other way to unlock it.

Indeed. You can play games without amiibos, but you need skylanders to play a skylanders game. You'll need to spend a lot of money to 100% the game.
Amiibos on the other side are just an addition.

You have to give credit to activision. They know how to make some serious money! Honestyl, Nintendo should follow the Skylanders model
