I should have figured the features would be cut for kids and curbed my expectations. At least there's local multiplayer.
I have nothing against the Wii U but...what is it with this game? Why are people so excited for this:/

There's no reasons to cut modes for kids, but i suppose that's a function of the need to funnel all online players into the same realm for ease of matchmaking.

Because it's a new core retail IP made by Nintendo themselves. I think the last time that happened was Pikmim.
Honestly, the only thing I even slightly care about out of this news is the lack of additional online modes. The rest don't affect me. I'm still getting it regardless.
I thought there was going to be a 1 vs 1 online mode as well? And I wonder how local multiplayer will work since we've only seen 4 vs 4 online multiplayer so far.
Also, maybe there will be more modes for local multiplayer? If that's true and we can battle against bots this way, then this makes the lack of online modes a little less horrible.
