Forums - Gaming - Just how unbiased are you?

Truth all of that I would have to add a Conn for Nintendo being that their online is basically non existent, A conn for X1 is that the console contains too many bugs as well as a unpredictable party chat system, Conn for Sony is that the controller battery life could be a lot better.

This was great.  Would've replace Nathan's ass with something like diversity or new IP but overall the best I've seen including my own.

Different strokes for different folks, eh?

But really, I considered writing something like that but I just wanted to be a smartass with at least one thing, lol.

I agree but this is a thread about not being biased.  I mean I don't enjoy Nintendo platformers as much as Sony ones personally but I can say objectively they have the best ones for most people.  Same with FPS on Xbox I mean I personally like Resistance 3 and KZ2 more than any Halo but I'd still give the FPS edge to MS

I'll admit I'm kind of biased towards Nintendo, but only because they've earned my respect. They're not perfect, but their products are just too damn good. I've been a fan since at least 1988, and I feel they've deserved every dime they've gotten from me. That being said, I will offer my pros and cons for each of the Big Three:

Nintendo
+ Best first-party games for six generations straight
+ Reliable hardware (flashing NES power light issue and N64 analog sticks notwithstanding)
+ Free online multiplayer
+ Great quality control; their games always work right at launch
+ Saved console gaming from the Crash of 1983
- I wish they made a conventional system that would get strong third-party support
- Online is free, but it's very much a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing as it's really bare-bones
- Region locking? Really?
- Some IPs get ignored. Where's F-Zero?

Sony
+ Their first-party efforts have expanded a lot in the past generation, yielding a diverse selection of excellent games
+ Always solid third-party support
+ Systems are supported for a long time (PS2 has a record-long production run of almost 13 years)
+ PSN has improved a lot in recent years
- Their controllers were terrible for three straight generations. The DS4 is a huge improvement, though.
- They were the first of the Big Three to abandon backwards compatibility

Xbox
+ Halo. The original game is my favorite FPS ever, and the series is the entire reason I invested in the Xbox brand to begin with.
+ XBL was the premier online service for years (though PSN has caught up), and while it cost money it was a great service
+ Their controllers are great. The Xbox One gamepad's shoulder buttons are too stiff, taking too much pressure to click in, but that's my only real complaint.
- Too few first-party games. They technically have a lot of good IPs, but most are just collecting dust.
- As a corollary to the above con, they rely too much on obtaining exclusivity rights to third-party games to pad their lineup of exclusives, which is an unsustainable practice in the long run (the 360 was reduced mainly to Halo, Forza, Fable, and Gears after 2009)
- Their UIs keep getting worse. The original "blades" layout for the 360 was simple and easy to navigate. The "NXE" layout that replaced it was a step down in every way that mattered. The Xbox One's UI is even worse. Everything is a moving target, it's hard to navigate, it's slow, and you can't even send voice messages.
- 343 Industries are poor caretakers for the Halo franchise IMO. The Bungie-era games are among the best FPSs ever, but Halo 4 was a disappointment, the MCC's MP is still broken after three months, and Halo 5 barely feels like Halo from my time spent in the beta. If this is what the future holds for Halo, then my desire to invest in the Xbox brand drops to almost nil.
- What they attempted to do with the Xbox One before they reversed those policies

Rarely do I perfectly agree with a long post like this, but, to the letter, I completely and totally concur with everything you've written here. Very well said.

If anything deserves an immediate friend request, it's this

I'm biased as fuck. I hate Sony's Playstation division because they're customer service and EULA are shocking. Microsoft and Nintendo I'm cool with though. I'll pretty much buy anything but a Sony at this point.

Hunting Season is done...

I am 100% unbiased.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I am biased towards Nintendo and proud of it

How unbiased am I? 100%

I don't really care about the consoles, I care about the games. If all games were available in a single platform I would sure as hell not buy every console.

With that said

Pros each company:

Exclusives

Cons for each company:

Don't care enough to even list 'em.

So yeah if you rarely catch me saying anything negative about  any console is in a jokingly manner.

I think "terrible" is a bit strong considering everyone copied the format but other than that I totally agree and DS was outdated by the time 2013 came around.

Even back in the fifth generation I didn't care for Sony's controllers. I bought a PS1 in 1998 and I found I still preferred the N64 controller. It's just the way PlayStation controllers were shaped for three generations straight that bugged me. They just didn't feel comfortable in my hands. I really like the DS4, though, even more than the XBO controller (I do still prefer asymmetrical analog sticks, though, but symmetrical sticks are fine if the controller is good enough).

I like symmetrical.  I'm glad Nintendo didn't copy that from Xbox though I wish theirs were down where the DS ones are.  That and the triggers are pretty much my only gripes with the Pro Controller though
