Forums - Gaming - Just how unbiased are you?

Don't worry, I hate everyone on this site equally.

Oh you're talking about platforms. Nevermind then.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I try to be unbiased although I've been accused of being Xbox biased a lot when I joined and now sometimes I'm accused of being Nintendo biased. .

Metroid, Zelda and Duck Hunt on the NES made an absolutely horrible experience (chemo) somewhat tolerable for me.

Can't say I'm unbiased, it's almost impossible for anyone.

That said I'm more likely biased towards Sony this gen and half of last but even then all 3 type platforms (talking about console, handheld and PC) have something I'll always dislike about them and at best some things but not a ton.

I can't exactly list each platforms pros and cons because that would be me trying to lie to myself and to others, I'd most likely probably end up listing more cons than pros and even then it would defeat the point, some already have on here without saying whether or not they were biased or unbiased, I thought that was the whole shceme of this thread was it not?.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Nintendo:
+Largest and most diverse first party
+Unique and specialized hardware
+Free online is still supported
-Region locking is a piece of shit
-Virtually no 3rd party support
-Can be very outdated in terms of features (both hardware & software)

Sony:
+Supports their consoles for the longest time each gen
+Loads of 3rd party support, namely Japanese games
+Nathan Drake's ass
-PSN is very unstable, even now
-Drift towards trends too often (PS Move...really?)
-Abandoned backwards compatibility

Microsoft:
+Essentially birthed online gaming as a standard
+Best platform for FPS
+Willing to spend any amount of cash for an exclusive
-Very few first party IPs
-Tries too hard to make video games something other than video games
-Typically has the largest piece of hardware

I tried.

This was great.  Would've replace Nathan's ass with something like diversity or new IP but overall the best I've seen including my own.

I'll admit I'm kind of biased towards Nintendo, but only because they've earned my respect. They're not perfect, but their products are just too damn good. I've been a fan since at least 1988, and I feel they've deserved every dime they've gotten from me. That being said, I will offer my pros and cons for each of the Big Three:

Nintendo
+ Best first-party games for six generations straight
+ Reliable hardware (flashing NES power light issue and N64 analog sticks notwithstanding)
+ Free online multiplayer
+ Great quality control
+ Saved console gaming from the Crash of 1983
- I wish they made a conventional system that would get strong third-party support
- Online is free, but it's very much a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing as it's really bare-bones
- Region locking? Really?
- Some IPs get ignored. Where's F-Zero?

Sony
+ Their first-party efforts have expanded a lot in the past generation, yielding a diverse selection of excellent games
+ Always solid third-party support
+ Systems are supported for a long time (PS2 has a record-long production run of almost 13 years)
+ PSN has improved a lot in recent years
- Their controllers were terrible for three straight generations. The DS4 is a huge improvement, though.
- They were the first of the Big Three to abandon backwards compatibility

Xbox
+ Halo. The original game is my favorite FPS ever, and the series is the entire reason I invested in the Xbox brand to begin with.
+ XBL was the premier online service for years (though PSN has caught up), and while it cost money it was a great service
+ Their controllers are great. The Xbox One gamepad's shoulder buttons are too stiff, taking too much pressure to click in, but that's my only real complaint.
- Too few first-party games. They technically have a lot of good IPs, but most are just collecting dust.
- As a corollary to the above con, they rely too much on obtaining exclusivity rights to third-party games to pad their lineup of exclusives, which is an unsustainable practice in the long run (the 360 was reduced mainly to Halo, Forza, Fable, and Gears after 2009)
- Their UIs keep getting worse. The original "blades" layout for the 360 was simple and easy to navigate. The "NXE" layout that replaced it was a step down in every way that mattered. The Xbox One's UI is even worse. Everything is a moving target, it's hard to navigate, it's slow, and you can't even send voice messages.
- 343 Industries are poor caretakers for the Halo franchise IMO. The Bungie-era games are among the best FPSs ever, but Halo 4 was a disappointment, the MCC's MP is still broken after three months, and Halo 5 barely feels like Halo from my time spent in the beta. If this is what the future holds for Halo, then my desire to invest in the Xbox brand drops to almost nil.

I think "terrible" is a bit strong considering everyone copied the format but other than that I totally agree and DS was outdated by the time 2013 came around.  Also they invented BC (as far as the current big 3 go on home consoles) so those should equal out.  Since I attacked the 2 negatives I will add one.  The unstable network and/or paying for online and/or delays or unfulfilled promises on exclusives.

My preference (in order) is Nintendo, then Xbox (not Microsoft), then Sony. I own every Nintendo console except Virtua Boy, every Sony console with no exceptions, and every Xbox except the original. I even own and actually love the Ouya!!

While I have my preferences, I don't sugarcoat anything. If I see somebody bashing a console they don't own or making boasts that aren't true, I will jump in. I'll bash Nintendo when they deserve it and praise Sony when I'm impressed. I also think the Xbox 360 has the best library and is the best console, ever! Of course I have my bias but who doesn't?

I guess I'm biased towards Xbox brand (not MS, just Xbox), I enjoy the consoles from Sony and the handhelds from Nintendo. Anyway on to the pros and cons

Xbox pros:

Friends
Xbox Live
GamerScore

Cons:
First party is same old games over and over
Having to buy extra accessories that are standard on other consoles

PlayStation pros:
JRPGs and Japanese games in general
Better 1st party games than MS

Cons:
Friends
Trophies ( because I have barely any and I don't really want to build up a high Trophy rank like I did on Xbox)

Nintendo pros:
1st party games like Fire Emblem and Zelda (maybe Metroid?)
Handheld devices are exceptional

Cons:
3rd Party support is non existent
