Poor sales and lack of power.  

Same thing I was thinking.  Just like Bayo 2. Would be day1 for me. Really enjoyed Dark2.

Nintendo doesn't fund Western projects unless they are farmed out Nintendo IP that their own teams are too busy to make (see: Luigi's Mansion 2, Metroid, Excite, etc.). 

The last time I can remember Nintendo funding a Western original IP game was Geist in 2005, a decade ago. 

That's not gonna change on Wii U since the prospects of something like Darksiders 3 breaking even on the Wii U are fairly dubious.

I really don't see why not... Granted Darksiders 2 sold the least on the Wii U but it's not like it broke a million anywhere else...

Actually it came out in August and was released on the Wii U in November because that's when the Wii U was released, and small install base didn't stop games from selling well on the PS4 and Xbox One when they released.

So no, it didn't release a year late.

Also at this point I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was a Darksiders 3 funded by Nintendo.

Bayonetta 2 seemed to work out well for them (Despite what people will say about its sales) because it gave them an amazing exclusive to talk about, and games like Hyrule Warriors worked out as well. They probably see funding third party games as a good idea now, and they should if the games end up being amazing.

Because apparantly they have already developed the tools? Because the development of assets is cheaper? There could be reasons if you care to look for them.

The only WiiU game I can see Nordic Games publish is De Blob 3.. A Nintendo funded DarkSiders 3 could happen though!

Neither is true and the former was never mentioned as a factor when PS/Xbox were getting low sales.
