The date on my chart is the launch date of the Xbox and the X axis shows the number of weeks, so Famitsu tracked it all the way through the year 2005 after which it flatlined. Famitsu and Media Create virtually agree on the sales that were tracked by both. So where does this 2m come from? The only reasonable explanation is that the 2m are for all countries that aren't grouped in either NA or EU. Japan alone is definitely shy of 500k.

Wikipedia has those 2m as "Asia & Pacific" not only Japan numbers, seems like you're right.

Edit: Yup, IGN agrees, they said it sold a total of 450k in Japan.

OT. By how Xb one has performed since launch, it would seem to be an uphill battle. I expect the 1 year Japan anniversary to see its LTD at about 75K, which means 4 years to reach 300K if it manages to hold steady with annnual sales. Of course with Xb one launching in Japan almost 1 year into the new gen it means Xb one will be 5 years old by the time Japan reaches the 4 year mark. I think USA will help to make sure Xb one gets a 5 year lifespan, at least. So 300K is theoretically reachable.

With some effort Xb one could reach 500K even, but I wonder how much effort MS will make in order to get such a meagre return.

Seeing how the XB1 does a week in Japan, maybe they might scratch that by the end of its life. It baffles me that MS tried again after the failure the 360 was over there. They were better off not bothering.

They aren't combined. Both did above 300k and the OP is asking if the Xone will ever reach that number.

Psshh. Probably not, the xbox one as a system deserves better but microsoft haven't put any efforts into the japanese market since 2009, they have no reason to care about anything xbox to be honest. I miss 2002 microsoft, the one that had the shemnue remasters and Jet Set Radio Future. Also miss 2007 microsoft, the one with exclusives like Mass Effect, Bioshock and Lost Oddyssey.
