Go ahead do it, over 99% of all my posts have been in non sales treads so the only one that will look silly is you.

And yet, even if that percentage was true, 1% of 7500 is .. 75 posts.

Guess what this is pretty much the first time I posted in a sales thread which pretty much proofs that I don't care about sales

I'll let that sink in a little.

Xbox/Nintendo/Sony fans can say ''My console will win so and so and dominate'' but in the end, whats the point of doing so?

If someone lives in the US, owning a console that is a distant second or third means you either have to FIND friends... like actually go out of your way to meet people who play those minority consoles, or you just don't play with many real life friends... or any real life friends at all.

I know last generation, I kept WANTING to own a PS3, but every time I'd bring it up, everyone I knew would just roll their eyes like... "Yeah, whatever... get an Xbox". It was frustrating and actually prevented me from leaving the 360.

Not sure about easily, but I think the PS4 should have a decent cushion by the end of the gen.

Depends on a lot of things really, worldwide is as close to a certainty as you can get but US is largely dependant on what happens through 2015 and 2016, if theyre still playing catchup this time next year in the US then I would doubt they will ever pull it back this gen.

I guess your reading comphension is off and you don't know the meaning of "pretty much" there is nowhere that I confirmed that this was my first post in a sales thread so let that sink in.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the majority of posters on this thread. I believe that the xbone will win the US. A lot of people are forgetting or forgiving the DRM debacle. Americans have horrible memory and they love shooters which is MS's focus in terms of new IP's & first party games. MS has tunnel vision on the states and it will aggressively do whatever bundles or price cuts to beat sony there. Including trying to appeal to more casuals.

I agree. Plus, people act like there is some huge gap. Right now, it's like, 500,000. That's pretty much nothing and can evaporate quickly. This is going to be a battle for both companies and I expect a neck and neck finish.

Alright, something that's actually on topic. Two interesting quotes from johnny956 and Abdiel from GAF, both of whom are Bish-checked.

Abdiel's comment: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=149947352&postcount=74

"I guess I'll be the first of us "BishChecked" to leave a comment, eh?

As soon as the price drop ended for the XB1, it was like someone pulled the emergency brake, people were coming in with the impression the price was still lower, and were leaving annoyed, rather than pay the difference, and the momentum tanked really, really fast. Once the price dropped again, well, it certainly picked up more speed again, but it isn't really selling on the same level as it was prior. That gap in time really didn't help them. I'm not saying that people went out and bought a PS4 instead, but some people just elected to simply not buy at all. We'll see if those customers return sooner or later.

PS4 seems to have smoothly transitioned, and the Last of Us bonus aspect to the bundle doesn't really seem to have made the system sell all that much 'faster'... it is nice though, that customers know they're getting something in the box even as part of the standard purchase, seems to sway some potential haggler types. PS4 won January handily for all the stores/districts I checked. Not really sure on exactly how big of a gap handily will turn out to be on the final numbers, but it was not a close game for us, at least."

johnny956's comment: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=150104411&postcount=794

"[Microsoft] overshipped to hit whatever number they were shooting for. AC unity bundle is discontinued in our system but they'll be there for a while. Most stores have over a month of stock while some districts have over 3 months of supply that's not including what's sitting in the [distribution channel]. This could change with promotions and such but current sales show it at that."

So what do these comments tell us? First of all, Microsoft overshipped a lot, a whole whole lot. When the price went back up to $399, consumers were turned off by the price and opted not to buy an X1. Of course, this would have led to numerous stores stuck with excess supply for a long period of time. Solution: cut the price back down to $349. Did it work? Eh, sort of.... Sales increased, but many stores are still stuck with a lot of X1's on shelves. Meanwhile, PS4 supply has been normal (3 weeks' worth).

TheShogun also confirmed that the PS4 outsold the X1 in his stores and districts, so that makes 3 Bish-checked GAF members.

Oh yeah, there's no question WW it's a total utter beatdown.  But, Microsoft has some decent marketing (well, they've had it before), so they could at least remain semi-competitive in the US...plus, they really bumrush the Christmas.  Again, don't think Microsoft will overtake Sony, but I think it'll be a decent cushion.

That 500 gap will be 1 million by october, then what?

Looks to me that the only way xbox will catch up is if they erase the gap durig the holidays. LMAO that won't work this year.

It will be a very interesting race. I expect both consoles to take off like crazy once Sling TV and PlayStation Vue arrive. For the first part of the year Sony has a huge advantage in the games department, and with the addition of PlayStation Music Powered By Spotify, they look to have the best multimedia in every field as well.

I think the winner is going to come down to who can make their console more convienent. The more apps, the more reasons to buy, and the more demographics it opens up to. We are at the point were the console is the center of the television experience. The only thing left to do is take over non entertainment consumer time. This means shopping, art, programming, word processing, spread sheets, photo editing, general web use, e-mail, etc.

Funny, I own a PS4 and none of my friends have one.

The more you start off your posts like this, the more I (and others) will believe you don't own one.  Especially when what follows that is always a post to dismiss or downplay the PS4.

@ OP

I agree.  If Amazon continues to be 100% right, then it seems even a $50 price advantage, with 2 free games thrown in, isn't enough to compete with the PS4 in the longterm.  And this year, the PS4 should definitely be dropping to $349, as well.  Is MS really going to try and drop it an aditional $50, just to compete in the US?  I seriously doubt it.  I mean thanks to their holiday cuts, XBO sales may have exploded for two months, but revenue from Xbox was still down 20% compared to a quarter where sales weren't that great.  We'll have to see what they decide to do this November, though.

On a side note, gotta love the irony in someone saying we shouldn't care about sales on a sales site.  Especially when they are one of the most frequent posters in this very thread.
