Baten Kaitos?

Not at all, this is clearly Soma Bringer style art. Baten Kaitos is an old series owned by Namco.

Most the art is signed Y. Honne (Yasuyuki Honne), I don't think he worked on Soma Bringer.

Last we heard he was part of Monolith Soft's new Kyoto studio.  Below are few games he's worked on:

  • Front Mission (1995): assistant graphic designer
  • Chrono Trigger (1995): map designer
  • Treasure Conflix (1996): main graphic
  • Xenogears (1998): art director, map textures
  • Chrono Cross (1999): art director, map painter
  • Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht (2002): art director, map designer
  • Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (2003): director, art director, map painter
  • Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII- (2006): special thanks
  • Baten Kaitos Origins (2006): director, art director, map painter, opening movie
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008): Adventure Mode map design
  • Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans (2009): producer, art director
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (2010): concept model
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (2011): special thanks
  • Project X Zone (2012): map graphic supervisor
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf (2012): special thanks

  • Yeah, I don't know...

It resembles Baten Kaitos to me....

The game is either vaporware, or maybe they are still working on it and will show something at a later date. If more information won't get released this year, then I will safely assume that the game got cancelled!

If I recall correctly, all those pics were artwork to recruit new staff. The last pic was for some openings in 2012.

    Just artwork IIRC.

This. Just promotional concept art for the studio.

Yeah, it won't be Baten Kaitos since that is a Namco game.

As others have already pointed out, it looks like they are from the Baten Kaitos game for DS/3DS. Wasn't that cancelled?

I thought that they were hiring 3D modelers for it and then it dissappeared from the radar. It's not out of character for Monolith Soft to do that though. Whatever it was could still be indevelopment as a backburner until Xeno X is finished.

I hope you are right. I really enjoyed the Baiten Kaitos series. Especially Origins.

I remember them saying they had a 3ds project. the first image seems more like xenoblade x early artwork but the rest are for the 3ds game (wich resembles batem kaitos).

I suppose there's always the possibility it's just artwork that never got further than that. But I hope it's an ongoing project.
