They announced 9.2M shipped (that have around 150-180k on shelves on japan by break down given on Nintendo financial report thread. VGC have it at 8.9M sold, meaning 120-150k on shelves outside japan.... That's the reason to say they have such razor sharp inventory level prediction, control and well oiled supply chain to allow them to ship from factory to customer house really fast. WiiU don't even colect dust on store shelf so you can use a totally fresh console when buying.

My preffered is the 20k 3DS on shelves (PS2 probably have more than that at shelves on some countries) and having negative consoles on shelves outside Japan.
