You are to clever to be fooled.

True that. Or they wanted to force rare items for collectors or perhaps they though just some models would sell strong.

Well, what about VGChartz overtraking the WiiU and undertraking the XOne?

Don't be a party pooper... Don't know how some people can justify 300k in shelf for WiiU as "It sells poorly so little stock is normal" for a console in its 3rd year and at the same time see 1.5M (5x more) x360 on shelves (by vgc tracking) for a console with very low sales by entering 10th year in the market (quite the feat). So both selling around the same magnitude but one having 5x more console on shelf should sound odd, don't you think?

Wii U has a pretty good software selling rate. Better than the 3DS.

Consoles usually have better tie ratio than handhelds. See Wii x DS. But ninty console shine on tie ratio of top sellers, like 50%

On 5 separate occasions over the 4 years with the Wii, the Wii U, the DS and the 3DS after we have gotten the shipment numbers. VGchartz has had sold at greater than shipped this compares to zero occasions thats its done the same with a MS or Sony Console/Handheld.

Nintendo does it for it's own financial health, Microsoft on the other hand can be more aggressive in filling the shelves.

Consoles shipped are revenue not loss. Nintendo would benefit from more shipments. Retailers will order Just as much as they want, sellers can't ship unwanted consoles, they can try to force or convince, but they don't send for free asking a comission for the sales. MS can overstuff, but the retail will only accept if they can sell the goods and profit, they won't pay for consoles to sit on warehouse.

Wait if WiiU shipped 9,2 million, isn't WiiU overtracked?

Or did nintendo announced how much they sold or something?

Pretty sure it's easier to be accurate when you're shipping way less anyway. That is, the percentage of consoles sitting on shelves compared to consoles sold would probably be a better indicator, and that should make it more even. That said, Nintendo seems very accurate.

Also, hype. If MS overships, they can brag with their shipping numbers, which should be good for business. And all those units are guaranteed to sell in a reasonable amount of time, so there's absolutely no problem there.

300k is 3% of 9.2M... 1.8M is 15% of 12M. (WiiU vs X1) and mean Q4 sales on average for 2014 of WiiU and Q4-Q1+ for X1 so there is a discrepance in the numbers... Also isn't WiiU available in more countries and have 150k on shelves (vgc) for all the no japan ones? And X1 have like 1.2M (and X360 900k +-) for all non US countries?
