As long as Nintendo are in profit I'm happy. I like the blend of the two but I think Nintendo should keep doing what they're doing now. I definitely think they won some fans over.
Yeah they will get all hardcore gamers back with that stupid gamepad controller and without most third party games on their system.
What hardcore gamer wants is a classic controller, and the most games possible: see ps4 and xbox one since they removed kinect.
People people, this has nothing to do with abandon. They are focusing on all audiences. The reason why the Wii U is selling so low is for 3 reasons
1: Nintendo haters and so called gritty gamers as i call them dont buy a Wii U because they are just simply not interested in there games, they want some FPS game or COD or idk assassins creed wich is for mature people, and mature is cool because thats how they think. Personally we all know they know too little about Wii U's library of games.
2: The so called casual audience has gone over to mobile games or just dont game much anymore. but i really dont think gaming is dead, quite the opposite i think its just gonna grow. Especially now that more and more people are on the internet they find out about gaming. Nintendo is like a cult classic. They do everything in quality and you know you gonna have fun playing nintendo games.
3: The marketing and the Wii U name. Yes marketing is not the best for the Wii U. Hardcore nintendo fans already promote the Wii U through the internet, and I think people who bought the Wii U are gonna deny it was a bad purchase so they tell everyone how good it is, then they become actually interested in more nintendo games and thats how nintendo gains hardcore nintendo fans. Wii U name was maybe sounding like a smart idea,but turned out it wasn't. Nintendo for sure knows this and im 100% sure that for nintendo's next console they have something figured out.
I agree. While many think that the casual market has completely moved to smartphone gaming, there is still a large market for such people and most don't mind buying a console to just play Just Dance every single year.

Especially the part were he says: "they probably figured that since the casuals were all using touchscreens now they would be able to identify with the WiiU" . I think Nintendo read the market wrong this gen.

And you apparently know hardly anything about the PS4s or X1s library if you think that the people opting for one of those instead of a Wii U are Nintendo haters and only want "some FPS game or COD or idk assassins creed wich is for mature people, and mature is cool because thats how they think", cause believe it or not, most gamers are not 17 year old teenagers that care more about image than about what they actually enjoy.

how about because in observing the games lists for all three machines people find that nintendo's list is woefully short in comparison to the lists of the other two companies especially moving forwards into 2015 and beyond?
and that's not even mentioning the additional features the other 2 provide
In fact, the Wii U should have once again focused on the Blue Ocean strategy that the Wii did.
stopped reading after that. people just hear that line and dont understand what it is. the "blue ocean" the wii catered to wasnt a blue ocean anymoret. it was a fierce market place that was dominated by cell phones and tablets. it was a red ocean.
nintendo made a very basic mistake. they tried to make a console for everyone. their target audience was everybody. and this they made a console for nobody.
The hardcore didn't really abandon Nintendo
The N64 was so late to the market and sparse with games in the early day that of course many people moved onto the playstation platform.
Following the Ps1, the pS2 was simply too good and had all the best exclusives from 3rd parties. In this day and age 3rd parties don't give out exclusivity just because... Thats how the 360 managed to make such big ground last era. A core Nintendo device would have benefitted from that two during that era and although we can only speculate, I strongly believe that a gamecube2 (but with a better name) would have sold better then the original gamecube and probably matched or surpassed the n64. it would have had all the final fanatsy's, RE's, CODs, Elderscrolls, Fallout etc
