Forums - Nintendo - It's only fair if Metroid skips the Wii U

How about Nintendo makes all of these games? They are a bigger company than they were in the N64 era. Metroid wasn't made then because they didn't know how to do it. All of the series you mentioned are going to be released this year or early next year. Definitely enough time left in the Wii U's life to make a Metroid game and an F-Zero game.

Nintendo is not really larger now than they were then. inflation wise maybe, but not truly

They also have an online infrastructure to manage and the transition from SD to HD really hit them hard.

However, I think the smartest track for Nintendo to take would be to put it on the Fusion (or whatever's next) as a 'core' launch title, make it gorgeous and overflowing with particle effects to really sell the new systems power. Same goes with the next 3D Mario. Practically it needs to be a launch title for their next console, perhaps with a remaster of Zelda U.

So day one people would have Mario, Metroid and a Zelda. That would move consoles.

Particle effects in metroid would look great, and fit the atmosphere well. I think thats a great idea, but off topic question: why the hell does everyone want games to look so damn dusty nowadays? It totally fits the atmosphere for some games but in others its a hinderance, just saying.

I think a remaster would be awesome for Nintendo's next console(bet they call it 'The New Nintendo' ;P). Problem is, porting games from power PC architecture to x86 takes a bit of work, they would need to get on it asap.

I agree that particle effects are massively overused in general. But for Metroid it would work really well to sell the exploring abandoned worlds and derelicts angle. It could even be used as the new console reveal:

Samus' ship lands on a decaying landing pad, throwing up dust everywhere, cables from shattered monitors swaying. Samus exits the ship and the POV cuts to first person, you can see dust motes in the area, dust settling from the landing, perhaps a few sparks going off etc. A shadow flickers in the corner of the shot and Samus turns to see Ridley looking ultra next-gen. Screen goes black and title card pops up, "coming 2017, exclusively to New Nintendo Console".

It better come.

Because it's better.

Pikmin is much better than Metroid in my opinion

No... The wiiu needs all the games it can get

I agree. Sadly, Nintendo can't make every game. If something has to be skipped, based on sales, Metroid should take the role.

Metroid already had its skipped gen. Metroid went 8 years without an installment after Super Metroid.

But anyway, there have been two metroid games per system since the gamecube. This is the longest metroid drought we've had since Super Metroid->Metroid Prime

There is a reason for this...

Nintendo has enough cash saved from the ds/wii era to fund all those games you stated and even if they don't have the manpower they can always farm them out to third parties just like they did with smash wii u (namco bandai).

It's only fair if no games release on the WiiU, right?

Who said that? What's been up with you lately?

Honestly I wouldn't mind if Metroid missed out this generation seeing as I haven't even played most of the games from franchise, so I need time to catch up! Just started on Super Metroid a few days ago and will be getting the Prime trilogy during it's initial release week.
