Is it officially $10 or are we just assuming because that is the price for Galaxy? |
Yes it is official, it's up on Nintendo's website.

My Usb hard drive is a 3inch x 4 inch rectangle that is powered by a mini Usb cable. It literally weighs as much as my cell phone. I bought it 5 years ago for 50 bucks and it holds 250gb
About the size of this one.

Oh and do get a USB 3.0 stick. Don't know if WiiU supports only 2.0 but they're faster regardless. |
If the USB stick states that it's backwards compatible with USB 2.0 then it should theoretically work with the Wii U, but it will only be as fast as USB 2.0 speeds.

USB 2.0 speed is still faster than almost any USB 2.0 stick on the market, so USB 3.0 sticks are still usually twice as fast even with 2.0 ports since they have faster memory and use the full potential.

That's true for the most part. My USB stick that I'm using on the Wii U is USB 3.0 and has slow write speeds, is faster on read speeds, but is still probably a little faster than top USB 2.0 speeds for both. It is a cheaper USB 3.0 too.
I figure that read speeds are more important and if a game is constantly writing for saves that it's just going to wear down the USB stick that much faster (so I should be wary of games that do that.)
More expensive sticks are usually better for speeds, but I ended up buying my stick because it was the cheapest 32GB that I could buy from a local store at the time that had a 5 year warranty.

Buy an external HDD for $40 and the game for $10. Solve a storage problem and get the game cheaper. win-win
