It could be called the HDS, but I doubt it would actually be "HD" by definition. The 3DS's top screen is 400x240, and going strait to 1280x720 would be quite the jump. (Even the Vita's screen is only 960x540).

Those quotes don't even have the slightest hint of creating a handheld that docks and then becomes the console, as in the PSVita and VitaTV. Iwata was talking about creating an environment where architectures are shared so that developing for either the handheld and console would be similar, nothing seems to be hinting at a handheld that is also the console when "docked" as several people here seem to want. Could they HDMI the handheld and play handheld games on the TV? They can certainly do that; however completely removing the console is ridiculous.

Miyamoto is stating that it'll be interesting to create games that run both on a handheld and console, nothing to do with making the handheld the console via docking.
