Well, simply winning wasn't what got him suspended.

No one loses anymore. They're just the last winner. So when they undoubtedly lose to the point where you can't use that bullshit reasoning anymore, the winners are the ones who have to pay.

I don't understand the story. Makes no sense.

Basically, the coach gets suspended from 2 games because they feel like he lacked the sportsmanship to make the game not end with such a humiliating outcome.  

They also probably think that he may have been looking to make a big point difference like this, but that's debateable.  There should be more details, like why they were going against each other to begin with.
