I see many kind of games among wii's 50 best sellers. if you count the million sellers, the variety is really big.

whenever good rpg's are released on nintendo platforms, they sell acordingly. just check the gamecube, wich sold 1.5 million on FF crystal chronicles (a medium budget title with very restricted multiplayer) and had the best selling "tales of" untill recently.

Most nintendo fans are true gamers, with a good chunk enjoying a good rpg and sales always show that. I can't understand who would say otherwise.

The top 50 games on Wii all fall under family-friendly multiplayer, kids games, fitness/dance/music titles, and traditional Nintendo ip. There is 1 single RPG in the top 50, 3 in the top 100 and 5 in the top 200, with only 3 selling over 1 million. The Wii audience was not big on RPGs, there is no denying that.

N64 had literally 1 RPG to sell over 1 million, Paper Mario. GC had a few decent selling RPGs, 2 Pokemon, Paper Mario, Symphonia & Crystal Chronicles.

Their have been 9 RPGs to sell over 1 million on Nintendo consoles in the 5th, 6th & 7th generations combined (over 150 million in hardware), 3 of which belong to the Paper Mario series and another 3 in the Pokemon series.

There is no denying these facts, the Wii audience was not very big on RPGs, just like N64/GC weren't either. If u were a big fan of this genre, u either needed a Playstation console or a handheld to get more than just a select few good RPGs.

The numbers already proves the audience likes rpgs, there is no denying this fact. and what other consoles get is irrelevant to the discussion, the fact is that rpg's sell well on nintendo.

If it was on the normal 3DS sure, but unfortunately not.

Interest in this is much higher then the interest in the original wii release.

The numbers prove that? Only 5 of the top 200 games on Wii were RPGs. Only 3 of them sold over 1 million. According to this site, Wii software sold over 930 million, RPGs make up a little over 13 million of that, or roughly 1.5% of Wii software.

Do these numbers really prove the Wii audience was big on RPGs?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

It's going to sell much more on the NEW 3DS for several reasons:

A. It was a limited release on Wii. The game became rare almost instantly in the Americas and Europe and is also rare in Japan now.

B. The demand for the game is still high. A lot of people wanted to play it that didn't and now they'll have access to it.

C. The game will be available digitally as well as physically so not only will it get a rerelease on the NEW 3DS and be at retail but it'll also always be available in the eShop.

D. They're pushing it as one of the premiere NEW 3DS titles and seem to be advertising much more then they ever did for the original Xenoblade Chronicles. More then likely this game will help push upgrades to the new hardware.

How hard is it to understand? there weren't many rpgs, but the good ones always sold acordingly. just check the rpg franchises both on nintendo consoles and PS, the sales are similar. the wii even had new franchises selling better than many established IPs.

And stop showing percentages against other games because that is completely irrelevant.

There were over 100 million Wii owners, only 3 RPGs sold over 1 million, hence the Wii audience was not big on RPGs, how hard is that to understand?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Who knows, but the 3ds version looks inferior to be honest.

It really depends how N3DS does in the long term. It could potentially outsell the Wii version but if it does it'll be a while after release.
