My school was on a trip to a music studio, and supposedly Michael Jackson happened to be there on that same day. Of course, being the wacky MJ fan I am, I just had to meet him, so I decided to do that in the trip. When I was on the way to the music center in the university (or something like that) I noticed him talking to the manager, who was sharing the bench with him, so I ran up to him and shook his hand and tapped his back. My vision got a bit fuzzy, so I asked "You're Michael Jackson, right?" (-.-) and he responded: "yeah, but that's not my name anymore", so I asked why, and he said "I've done some things in the past that I'm not proud of, so I don't think that I deserve that name anymore". I cleared my eyes and he vanished :(

An epilogue followed which featured me and my brother talking to the manager about bricks :P

And there were 2 other dreams following this one, the first one was weird, the other was sorta humorous (and starred a recurring character in my dreams!) :P

Poor MJ, your brain decided to make the rumors about him true. How sad

Are you really an MJ fan just asking

Bricks are always a rather...um, fun subject I suppose

My only wish is for an espionage game with a fully customizable character and real RPG elements that doesn't feel like they were tacked on. A story that revolves around a rookie soldier who just got "recruited" by a mercenary group. I want the game to be heavily inspired by the Metal Gear Solid series, with its lighthearted humor and convoluted stories.

Metal Gear Solid with RPG elements? That would be interesting. I've only played a bit of MGS before but I know the basics. An upgrade system can always make a game feel more customized.

It's an idea I've been thinking for a long time. How a Metal Gear Solid game would be with the player on the shoes of a hopeless rookie. Not a Raiden-like rookie, but more like Johnny. A stealth game with some action elements and funny moments. Crossing paths with characters from the main series but not interfering with the timeline.

That all sounds...pretty bad. I rarely do side quests with any game though because they are normally butt cheeks. As far as the all your treasure being shown, well that's pretty standard I think. Video games are supposed to be fun, nwhen your think "nothing" as you say, that's definitely not good.

Is it standard? Usually in my experience, collectibles you actually need to find, not just mark on your map and walk there. Collectibles should be a bonus for exploration, like in Uncharted 2. Exploring around everywhere, you would just find treasures laying around, and that was cool. I complain about Red Dead Redemption a lot, but the Treasure Map quests were actually pretty interesting and something different. I dunno, I just find it really strange and shallow when all these relics lost to time are marked on my minimap.

I would like to say that I can be extremely over critical, but still....its getting a little tedious, and I don't think I'm even 1/3 of the way through

PS: This thread may just become my place to bitch about all of things I don't like in the games I'm playing. Hope you don't mind :P

I would be here for a game like that. Johnny is a pretty cool character and funny as well. Being able to play as him or someone similar would be a nice change of pace

Well, I'm used to Nintendo games and in Zelda they showed where treasure was, same with Pikmin. I guess it really isn't standard but it's not totally uncommon from my experience.

That's fine by me. We can complain about games all day if you'd like

Well Zelda games are a bit different because the challenge is more in getting to the treasure than actually finding the treasure. There have been plenty of times where I have seen a treasure or a heart piece but had to wait another while to actually be able to reach it. Additionally, you often have to get the compass item for those locations to actually be shown on the map.

Theres also a bunch of other things such as Energy Tanks in Metroid, Heart Pieces in Zelda, Secret Stars in Mario etc which require exploration, however another thing to note is that all of those things do something. Relics in Far Cry 3 are pretty much pointless and are just a collectible...although I'm not sure if that makes its presence on the map better or worse.

Overall, when I'm actually trying to accomplish things, sometimes I start to feel like I'm playing the mini map, and that is never a good thing...

Oh. That makes sense. Zelda games do have challenges in place to prevent you from getting the treasure easily. I can totally see how that's annoying then.

on another note, you are a Metroid guy, are you getting the Prime Trilogy from the eShop? I'm assuming you already have it.

I bought the physical game a while ago for 40$ new (which is actually a pretty good deal). So far I've beaten Prime 1 and 3 (I beat three a long time ago) and I'm planning to start 2 sometime soon. I love the Prime series and they are amazing with IR controls ^.^
