Single player in monster hunter games is definitely worth it, it just so happens that the multiplayer is much bigger and better relatively. You get a good experience with single player, you just don't get the full experience.

I played the demo. I really really wanted to like it because I like a game that 100s of hours can be sunk into. I hated it. It was boooring - both single player and multiplayer. Don't see the appeal at all.
I only played MH3 demo, not MH4 demo yet, but I think it's decent at least.
Wayyyy too hard for me tho.
It has a nice premise, and I wanted to like it. However, the combat is far too slow and clunky for my tastes, and MH3's small areas and lots of loading (even if tiny) were a bit off-setting. The idea is sound. But yes, I would like it better if it had huge areas, and faster, smoother gameplay.
I love the franchise myself. I don't know why but killing big monsters and harvesting their body parts to make new weapons just appeals to me for some reason. I can easily sink hundreds of hours into each one.

I don't think I ever saw a review for MHtri mostly because reviews are not worth a damn for me. I could totally understand if people have negative views of the game if they only played the single player though.

The thing is those are on purpose game desgin decisions, at first I didn't get it but when you play the game you begin to realize those restrictions are very much part of the gameplay. It would be like asking why in mario games don't they just make him jump further and higher, it would surely make jumping over pits and traversing a level easier, but I am sure you would agree it would defeat the whole purpose of the game.

The online multiplayer is extremely addictive and I love it.
If it is a single player game that you are looking for, then it's not the game for you. The majority of the offline play is spent farming and gathering materials in order to play online.
That's my two cents and if badgenome wants to punch me in the nose I will crack him in the jaw with my Grongigas Hammer.

Whats not to love about picking your weapon of choice and going with a team of 4 to slay a beast? Single player is kinda crappy but the online is where all the fun is
