The online multiplayer is extremely addictive and I love it.
If it is a single player game that you are looking for, then it's not the game for you. The majority of the offline play is spent farming and gathering materials in order to play online.
That's my two cents and if badgenome wants to punch me in the nose I will crack him in the jaw with my Grongigas Hammer.
