Why, the game is not nearly as popular as Gears was. Gears was a huge selling blockbuster, SO is more niche. Has it even sold a million copies yet?

Instead of SO it should be Titanfall. Titanfall can turn into a huge series, I do not think EA will be easy to work with making the sequel exclusive though

Read the first sentence again, bro. Its not about being what Gears was, it was about the significance of the deal made for Gears of Wars exclusivity. The exclusive publishing contract since Insomniac wants to keep the IP.

BTW...Uncharted didnt sell 5 million out of the gate. It took time for it to reach those sales.

Sunset Overdrive 2 will not be a console seller like Gears of Wars was, Gears of War was the only reason I bought a 360. MS should be worried more about Titanfall which IS a console seller. But I am pretty sure they have already lost that fight.

Microsoft isn't fighting for Titanfall, they just needed to create a community. You guys seem to forget that Microsoft works based off of perception. If a game comes out first on their platform to the common man thats just as a good as it being exclusive, because people will associate it with the platform.

Gears of War was expected to be a hit for the very beginning, which prompted the creation of Uncharted. Sony knew and saw it coming and set Naughty Dog to the task. This game has a lot of potential to be a 2-3 million seller as it marketshare grows. Once again, Uncharted wasn't very popular when it first came out. After Uncharted 2 became widely popular thats when we witnessed a huge sales spike for that game.

So it is not worth fighting for the bigger series with more potential but it is worth fighting for a niche game that did not even break 1 million?

Its EA. They tried to put Titanfall on the Playstation and they screwed up. This game will definitely go multiplat without a fight. Microsoft already has their top tier FPS and they are bringing back Perfect Dark ontop of that.

Insomniac wanted to focus on one publisher to let the IP hit the ground running. They pitched the idea to many developers. Microsoft was a key candidate because they dont care if they own the game as long as they can fill their ranks with it. I believe they tried with both Sony and Activision before they went to Microsoft and those fell through. After seeing what Sunset has become now, I am sure they would welcome Insomniac with open arms for a multiplat. Sony made a lot of mistakes with games like Titanfall as well and we all know thats going multiplat.

Oh right. I wouldn't mind if it stayed exclusive, but I also wouldn't mind it going multiplat. Microsoft would really benefit from keeping it exclusive though. It's their counter to Infamous, and for my money, it's way better, even if a little overpriced.

Let them keep Sunset Overdrive.

This is probably the one franchise I wish I could get for PS4.

Do you really think EA would want to keep the game exclusive when Sony has the larger marketshare? Come on, bro. Sunset Overdrive only had one publisher for its intial launch and that was Microsoft. If Microsoft was smart since there was no other publisher, they could make plans to keep the title with them as the sales continue to rise.

SO is not what Gears of Wars was. Not even close. No sense in MS worrying about it.

Btw Uncharted 1 sold nearly 5 million

SO sold 3/4ths of 1 million

History lesson.  Sunset Overdrive sold 750k in first 9 weeks retail.  Uncharted sold 900k in same time frame.  Not tht much different.  At least research stuff before speaking

I have not played SO but I do not see how it could counter Infamous? Infamous 1 sold better and the latest Infamous sold better? Nothing against SO but it is not a console seller. (Infamous Second Son is the only Infamous that was)

Your point? Show me a shred of evidence SO is going to take off the same way Uncharted did.
