Well, let's look in the story for that.

Who's Link? The Hero of Time, the legendary hero chosen by the Goddes Hylia. Could that hero be a female? If the answer is yes, then sure! Link could be a girl, I would call her "Linkette"

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I don't care if Link is a boy or a girl as long as I can have sex with Epona. Since OP put the example of Shepard, why not? Shepard fucks aliens whether he's male or female. Time for Link to do the same with his/her everlasting companion.

Only girl that will never betray him. Best relationship ever.

We can't say the same about Link, though. He ditches her for some other random animals, or a train!

Well, if there were differences in certain side quests, even if only minor ones, I guess I'd have to play the game again after finishing it once, choosing the other gender.

If they don't fundamentally change the franchise and make it RPG (so that's not only customization introduced), I'd prefer they stick with what we had until now.

IMO, introducing male/female option randomly in games just cause it's trendy is plain silly, and just like I don't want to play with Lars Croft, John Dark or Samuel Aran, I really don't need female Link or Natalie Drake.

She should kick him in the balls if the player choose a boy !

Like I've said before I'd love for the new link to be a female or event better a gay female but this is Nintendo so the second one at least is never going to happen, at least not anytime soon.

I'm not sure I'd like the choice of gender, I'd like them to just tell one story and really flesh out link (male or female) as an actual character, different in each entry in the series. I've not played much of the Zelda franchise but I don't think Link generally gets much character development at the moment, though I could be wrong.

Does that mean that anyone attracted to, either male or female Link is a homosexual, due to the fact that both male and female link are identical. Maybe bi? I am genunely curious here. The best is a guy I saw on here who was homophobic on one forum, and then on the other was calling female Link hot, yet the photo of female link actually looked, to me anyway, to be male.

There is strong resonance in my mind with Link as a male character, I really wouldn't want them to switch his sex although I'm happy for them to experiment with his appearance.

No.

Whether or not the change could be justified, I for one don't trust Nintendo on doing it justice.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Both playing as a female Link, AND playing as Zelda make absolutely no sense in Zelda unless the ladder is part of a spin-off like Hyrule Warriors.
