Last of Us? Can anyone posting it please list all the games that have come out clearly heavily influenced by Last of Us? Or please explain the design shifts and mechanics boom that exploded because of LoU?

Oh wait you can't because it' been out for like 18 months or something LOL. Even if it had ssomething massively innovative, it's too early to call it.

The correct answers imho are Halo and Wii Sports.

What games were clearly heavily influenced by Halo? Or had design shifts or a mechanics boom as a result?

Just you knocked TLOU for this reason and I'm drawing a blank on Halo with the same criteria.

Just about every modern shooter. Two weapon limit, regenerating health...

the real revolutionary games of the century aren't even in your poll. Take your pick.

Super Mario world
Gran turismo
Legend of Zelda ocarina of time
crash bandicoot.

Yeah it does. Your shield acts in the same way as life in most shooters today; COD, Battlefield, Killzone...

metroid prime.
the revolutionary isolation of metroid fit in first person

No it doesn't ...

A shield only acts as a damage sponge, not meant to heal tissue damage. Once the shield comes off any further damage will permamently reduce the health until another medpak is found ...

The damage sponge effect is the same as adopted by modern shooters though, and that's because virtually the entire genre adopted the mechanic from Halo.

Angry Birds. Period.

I agree that the damage sponge mechanic was adopted, however it is only a subset of regenerating health ...

The damage sponge effect is only a side effect or a consequence of regenerating health so the same can't be said of the inverse ...

The differences aren't minor or trivial, it pretty much gives regenerating health it's own differentiation in the end ...
