Forums - Microsoft - Will MS discontinue the X1 in Japan?

will MS withdraw the console before 2017?

yes 127 44.41%

no 117 40.91%

resultz 41 14.34%

Total:285

Nah, they don't need to. I don't know what their internal expectations were but based off history I would be surprised is MS anticipated a run away success for the XB1 in Japan.
It's a great system also.
In Japan Live should be free, I think if that was the case it would help the brand in Japan.

Loll man, its amazing how low it really is! But they probably won't cause it is still selling even if its selling piss poor

What if the 800 units it sells becomes 200 units a week in say 2 months from now. That's about 30 units a day. How can they afford to pay all their staff for numbers that bad.

Of course not. There's no reason for them to try making Japanese games though.

If Sony still hasn't pulled the Vita everywhere, Microsoft definitely won't be pulling the XBO in Japan.

Sony will probably pull the vita out of most places before 2017.  haven't they stopped shipping to a lot of retailers already?  Japan might get a year or two extra of the vita over all other regions apart from maybe China if it takes off there.

Rock and a hard place.  if they dont pay big money for decent Japanese exclusives to boost sales then ps4 will keep getting almost all 3rd parties as exclusives.  Is final fantasy 15 ps4 exclusive in Japan?

Obviously. By then, it'll have been 6 years old. That's a full life. The thing may as well be pulled now, though. It has no future.

I'd imagine if they did I'd also expect Sony to pull the Vita they've been neglecting for the past few years from most places.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yeah but the vita is making profit still. Most of its software sales are digital which really helps profit margins
