Ps4 still showing its selling power at full price, price this thing at 299 and it will be all over.

I honestly think that will be the first price drop.  The costs of the system has dropped significantly since launch.  With a die shrink, $299 should still be profitable.  I expect the price to happen to counter Microsofts holiday fire sale.

Anyone else think that the gap closing was due to the hype sorrounding the "Microsoft Event" that just ended, and because it wasn't worth being hyped is back to normal.  The timing is about right.

i don't think anyone cared about the event, i just think that everyone who really wanted a bone, got themselves a bone when it had a value of $200

Yep, I was quite surprised that the 8 gigabit GDDR5 chips are already in mass production. Cutting the amount of chips on the motherboard in half will really cut manufacturing costs.

Microsoft's event was mainly about Windows 10.

For those who care, Wii U is still holding it's position around 50 (bounces up and down so sometimes over, sometimes under). Right now 44. For reference, it was regularly outside the top 100 or even worse before the holidays.

keep us updated!

I'll try to remember to :)

It peaked today at 42 iirc, but is now at 48 last I looked.

Me too, I'm expecting Sony to dropped the price around August and killed any momentum xbox one could have around holidays, though microsoft will probably cut the price even further and since they can't compete at the same price, we could see xbox one at 250 if that happen.

I don't think Microsoft would drop to $250 with free games by the holidays.  Investors will only tolerate so much loss from a division. The Xbox One has to cost a lot more right now than the PS4 with the parts (memory) going up in price to the point where we are hearing rumors of DDR4 (newer and more expensive technology at the moment) R&D redesigns to keep future costs down. At some point Microsoft will have to please investors or spin-off the division.

It's a tough spot.

The problem is that Microsoft can only cut the price so much. The 360 and PS3 still cost over $150 for crying out loud. Right now, even with a $50 disadvantage, the PS4 is still perceived to have better value than the X1. The PS4 has a plethora of exclusives (and console exclusives) that will help boost the baseline. A $100 pricecut would be a megabomb, for sure.

well, I'm very curious to see what would happen if sony cut the price to 299. Ireally want to see Sony putting pressure to microsoft and what will microsoft next move be, going for profit or marketshare?, it'll be fun.
