I honestly thought the next Xbox would win. More and more people were switching to Xbox from 6th gen during the 7th gen. But then came the reveal xD

Ridiculous. Xbox would have destroyed ps4. Ps3 didn't sell that much better than 360.if Sony fucked up again they would lose even more market share to Xbox in the 8th gen just like they did last gen. Xbox would have captured at least Europe. 

Its gotta be the PS4. Its almost has 50% market share on chartz.. so this means that it will sell at the rate of the Wii U and Xbox One combined. That is winning.  

Who did I think was gonna win... PS4.  Because the PS3 managed to win over the Xbox 360 dispite releasing a year late so it just makes sense that the PS4 would release at the same time and outsell the Xbox One.   Microsoft can't win it if they crack Europe.  Its just too big of a market to loose.  And Japan... well, I didn't expect the steep decline but we all knew Sony and Nintendo would fair the best.  

Wii U was just a disaster from the onset.  The name hurt it.

the ps3 launched a year later than xbox 360 with a $600 price tag with no games and didn't launch in europe until the year after that along with sony's arrogance with worse multiplats, worse controller, and worse online, had many sketchy things happen to it such as the big one month playstation online downage and the company making it is on the verge of bankruptcy. on top of that the xbox 360 had many double buys do to the red ring of death, the console was much cheaper than the ps3, for fucks sakes it's like $99 now and the ps3 is $200 and after all of that the ps3 still outsold the xbox 360 and is currently outselling it.

The PS4 since the beggining especially because of how well the PS3 was doing in its late years, and when both the PS4 and X1 were announced it was clear to me that the PS4 would have this generation in the bag, the real question was: will it dominate like its ancestors or will it just win?

I voted Xbox One. 

Xbox One was the one with most features for the future (Motion Control, Voice Command, Family/Friend Sharing, TV-integration, Cloud Saving etc). I thought that this was MS chance to challange Apple (Apple-TV) in the North American living rooms. 

I thought that people that do not hang on game forums would not care about DRM issues.
I also assumed that the only market of importance left was North America (Japan going mobile/handheld - Europe with the bad economy slowing everything down).
I did not even think E3 would have very much impact, as it is mostly hard-core gamers that have any interest in it, the people that buy FIFA, Madden, CoD, AC, GTA do not care very much for news from E3. Also the big interest for Halo in North America made me belive Xbox One would win easily.
The economic situation for Sony and MS was also leading me to assume that MS would be able to win marketshares by sheer economic strength.
The PS4 was, and still is, to me "more of the same" that we got from last generation. It brings nothing new into the equation.
Nintendo will always be quirky. The gamepad probably was a good idea when they were planning the new console a few years ago, when gaming went casual and mobile. I was hoping for it and thought they could have done a lot more with their one year head start, big war chest with money from the Wii and with their grip on the casual market.

Wii U

I never really understood how Nintendo got away with the wii console but because of its success I thought perhaps the wii u would be equally big. All I know is of the three consoles the ps4 most deserved success, it was a decent design capable of good performance without as many compromises as xbone. So its good to see it doing well for this generation and I certainly think its in the consumers interest that it succeeds to allow for more ambitious titles.

I knew it was going to be ps4but had my doubts about wii u, I knew it was going to be a hit or miss. Regarding to xbox one, I knew that as long as Sony did the right thing, microsoft wouldnt have a chance.

The Wii was a double edge sword and it was clear any successor was likely to underperform. Then the name was announced and the console was forever doomed. So it was up to Sony and Microsoft.

I had the Xbox doing better than it's doing now for sure. I knew the PS4 would do better than the PS3 but I supposed it'd still coming in second purely because of North America. However, I never expected Microsoft's giant misstep during their reveal (DRM and always online? Yikes!) Then that historic E3 happened, with Sony twisting the knife, and it was clear the PS4 was just going to breeze through all the way to the top.
