Wii U because if lots of people buy Shovel Knight, then more exclusives will come

So Shovel Knight is exclusive now?

I wish it was cross-buy. I want it on my 3DS, but there's going to be a console exclusive battle mode and I don't want to miss out so I have to buy the Wii U version, even though this type of game is better on handhelds.

This is the first post to objectively state why one version of the game is superior to the other. I'm having the same dilemma as the TC, so now I'm leaning more toward the Wii U version.

From Yacht Club Games thmselves:

For those who don’t know, each version is definitely worth picking up! The Wii U comes with Miiverse support through the Digger’s Diary, Off-TV Play with the GamePad, and supports the Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Wii Classic Controller, and Wii Classic Controller Pro. Oh boy that’s a lot of input options! The 3DS version has eye-popping stereoscopic 3D, the StreetPass Battle Arena, and Play Coin support. Having Shovel Knight on the go or on your huge TV at home both provide an amazing experience...

Thank you for posting that. The bolded sentence is the only unique aspect of the 3DS version that I care about. Sounds like Battle Arena is supposed to be coming to all versions of the game, which puts me back squarely on the fence. Hrrumph.

I got $5 on the eShop thanks to the Digital Deluxe program. Didn't know what to spend it on. Figured I would get Monster Hunter for 3DS but I may go with Shovel Knight. I'm gonna check some reviews....

You can't go wrong either way.

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

Thanks for all the great memories!

are what I am looking for.  I want posts that point out specific differences between the two.

Plattformers are best best play on home consoles IMO. I couldnt imagine playing it anything but the Wii U of the current generation. Back to where it belongs :>

I think you should go for 3DS, the graphics are the same and you could play it where ever you go

Depends do you want the game available on the go and if you do are ok with less then great but managable controls.

I got the game on the 3DS but I do believe that I probably should have just got it on the Wii U or PC (if I was a PC gamer with controllers for it) as I do think I'd have a better time with a console style controller to grip.

I think I'm ready to go for it and buy the Wii U version. If anyone objects, speak now.

Forgot to buy a game until I saw this thread. Missed Monster Hunter 3 for like the 3rd or 4th time! If Shovel Knight is still on sale, I'm betting the 3DS version. I doubt I'll play with anybody else and the graphics won't suffer. Plus, whenI'm home, I try to play big budget games as much as possible. This game should be great for when I'm working.
