Forums - PC Discussion - GameSpot tried to build a Pc which costs around the same as a console.

A good gaming PC has a higher cost initially, but if you look at the long term, then there's certainly a lower cost associated with a gaming PC compared to a console.

Depends if you stick to Steam sales. New games cost about the same (at least where I live). A PC usually needs an upgrade or two during a console's life span, which offsets the cost of live or ps+. Yet those give you a lot of games as well.
You can trade in or sell console games. Can't with PC games.

Then you must live in the only country where PC games cost as much as their console counterparts!

The same game on PC is usually $20 cheaper than on console, furthermore on PC you have the modding community that expands the gaming experience of said games & you don't have to pay to play on-line!!!

At the end of 6 years, what you paid extra for games & internet is about $800, with that money I assure you that you can build a very decent gaming rig!

These projects are getting less and less meaningful the more time passes. Also they're missing a controller.

Anyway why would I even build a cheap PC if I can have a console for even cheaper? If money is so tight why not go for the cheapest choice?

... & the console is missing a keyboard+mouse, which is only the best set-up to play FPS by far!

Sure. Don't know a single person without a mouse and keyboard plugged into their console to play FPS.

You don't build a gaming PC just to play games a little better than consoles.

In my opinion this attempt shows that PCs cannot compare to consoles in terms of Price to Power ratio.

It's stronger than an X1, but weaker than a PS4.  Also only 4GB of ram will become a bottleneck fairly soon.

The problem with such generalizations is that they are always untrue. I in fact built a PC last year for a bit less than $600 Canadian (S&H and taxes included) which barely outperforms the PS4 and XBOne. I will probably forego any upgrades as I usually just buy a new PC every 5-6 years.

The point you made was that PC was lacking a controller.

To what I responded that Console was lacking keyboard+mouse. Get it?

About which is better, for FPS, FPS being hugely popular on both platforms, mouse+keyboard combo is lightyears better than a gamepad, live with it!

Console Gaming!

I just cant stare at the same screen that i've been working on all day and play games on it.

An easy way to fix that would be to connect your PC to the TV/a different monitor lulz
