PCs cost more than consoles but the cheap games make up for the price. That's literally it. Why's this so hard for some people to understand

Second hand console games are also extremely cheap, I don't know why some people think that all new console games can only be bought for $60 when one can easily find them second hand for $40.

I know that this doesn't apply for most people, but one of the reasons I like to buy my games in Steam instead of my 360 is because like to support developers I trust, purchasing a game in Steam guarantees that the money I spend on a game (minus Valve's cut of the prize) will get to the hard working people behind it, buying an used game just helps the retailer. Plus, I trust having my games downloaded in my laptop  way more than having a physical copy of them, a disc can break, get scratches, or you could even lose it for some reason, I've had my fair share of consoles crapping out on me too, hell, even my 360 has started to malfunction, so I've learned to not trust consoles as much as I did when I was little.

You can get hacked or if steam is down what then? Discs are fixble there are cd shops who can repair it and blueray discs are pretty much unscracheble. And i think this support argument is pretty bold and relative. I can also say i want to support my retail stores, small interpreteneurs on amazon and co. instead servers located in the USA.

5/6 of discs I lend over for people to repair them were even in worse condition when they returned them to me.

who were they? You need to go a special place like cd store or renting store. Or just buy your own cd buffer machine

But, I didn't know that about that unscratchable Blu-Ray thingy you said, that's cool, if true.

Also, why is my "support" argument bold and relative? I don't get. Don't you want to support developers so that they continue being in the bussiness? You'd rather support retailers? That's fine I guess, but would much rather support the company behind the games I enjoy instead of the one who delivers them.

if economy is bad in my country or area i wont be able to afford buying these games. What do you want everyone of these smaller retailers being unemployed?

Regrading the hackz thing, ya got me there, that's a scary thought, but I don't think that's a problem exclusive to Steam, it could happen with any service including PSN and XBLA.

yeah but i wouldnt lose all of my games except the digital ones

On a console budget and they go for $550? A PS4 is $400 at most. Let's not even mention the time taken to build that PC.

Remember, the Xbone released for $500 + tax ~ 550. This was written when the consoles first released. Today you can get a $450 PC (after OS + Keyboard & Mouse) on par with the PS4.

Hes right, if you want to look at true value its $400 and declining by the years. With the Kinect its $500. The Kinect has nothing to do with PC gaming outside of being an add on, so if you're going to compare value for value its $400 or less until January 3rd and even by next year Microsoft will most likely drop the price again being that they are losing. The PS4 will stay at a solid $400 and both console prices will decline.

It is impossible for me to get a PC for the same price as even the xb one plus Kinect with the same gaming capability as PS4. And the nature of consoles is designed can get better performance from from the hardware.

But considering that I would pay X for a basic PC for the non gaming functions I need then that price should be excluded and then I should consider the cost necessary to get from basic PC to decent (i.e. mid range) gaming PC. I can probably achievebtuat for a similar price, or possibly slightly less than the price of PS4. But if I want a high quality gaming rig then that will be way more expensive than a console, even if I remove the base price of a non-gamer PC.

If we want to look at true value we can include the 100s of things a PC has thar is not relevant to gaming but is included in the package. There was no kinectless sku back when this article was written. If you wanted to buy an Xbone you had to spend approximately $550. Just because it had hardware nobody wanted is no excuse. The same can be said with the extra features PCs have.

I've never understood this. Do people think that if you build it the Sony/MS exclusives will come?

The PS5 Exists.

No it isn't. I just linked a build list that proves you wrong. You can build a PC for $450 that plays current releases better than the PS4

You realize that PC has exclusives too, right?

Weird, weird weird. Who the the hell cares what exclusives the PC has? Stuff PC. I'm not interested in PC. I'm sick and tired of PC. This is an article about putting a PC together to compete with consoles. Are you with me yet? You cannout get the games I want on PC even if you could but a PC together for £2.

You mentioned thar the PC wont have Xbone or PS4 exclusives. Well the same argument can be made for the Xbone/ps4 with regards to Pc, but also with regards to eachother. An xbone doesn't have PS4 exclusives nor does a PS4 have Xbone exclusives.

Way to be civil.

If going by your logic we shouldn't mention anything enar console exclusives, if you were to then the PC list would have to come out which would factually trump the current gen offerings along with last gen and the ports that came over inbetween both.

If you're so sick and tired and hate PC then why are you in a thread that's entire subject started with a PC build which is mainly mroe about the PC than the console?, it seems highly illogical for you to even warrant being here if you've no actual input that doesn't revolve around claiming your hate for one platform and calling someone weird.
