It will be lucky to make it to 15 million, as of this moment. All ninty fans bought the console when Mario Kart came out and so that is why SSB didn't boost sales so much. It's a dead console and news on an upcoming ninty next gen console are just helping it drown faster.

Don't forget the 3ds version. Shoulda been released in early 2015, instead they released before wiiu's version *facepalet*

LMAO. You Sony fanboys are somehthing aren't you? And your're ignoring M$ high-jacking the Wii U's momemtum by buying their way to the top spot because? Oh wait, you're a troll that's why.

Ur actually wrong on a few things here. Wii U is tracking behind GC by a pretty large margin in every territory.

In terms of shipments, Wii U was at 7.29 million at the end of Sept, in the same time frame GC was at 10.45 million. Wii U is down over 3 million and the gap is getting larger. GC shipped a further 3.5 million for a total of 13.95 million at the end of its 2nd full year.

Wii U shipped 1.95 million last holiday and this year's sales are pretty similar so we should expect similar shipments, let's just say 2.2 million. That would put Wii U around 9.5 million compared to about 14 million for GC. Down 35% compared to GC thru 2nd full year, if it continues to be down by 35% then Wii U will only sell about 14-15 million.

Also N64 was at 23 million by Mar 1999 (2.5 years on market) so Wii U is tracking less than half as well as N64 which again would put Wii U less than 15 million lifetime.

Ah, another troll ignoring facts. So looks like Sony is doom because the PS4 isn't doing as well as the other PS consoles in Japan. See how easy it was to own you with a sentence, troll?

What are u talking about? The thread is about whether or not Wii U will reach 15m. It is tracking about 2/3 as well as GC and 1/2 as well as N64 which equels about 15 million. I didn't say it couldn't sell better, just that it's not currently on track to.

Please refrain from constantly referring to people as trolls, it's against the rules and nothing I said warrants that type of reaction. If u would like to have a civil discussion, I'm up for it, but there is no reason to go around throwing out false accusations, there are plenty of other forums that allow that type of behavior, this is not one of them.

Ignore the troll. Perma incoming.

2012: 2.3m
2013: 3m (5.3m)
2014: 3.6m (8.9m)
2015: 3.1m (12m)
2016: 2m (14m)
2017 & beyond: 1.5m (15.5m)

Think it will just surpass 15m.

Fact of the matter if everyone and their grandma thought WiiU would do amazing this year/holiday with Smash and MK, and it's barely been on par for most of it. A price cut is not going to be more impactful. Price is NOT the problem with the WiiU.

All the games in 2015 bar Zelda are niche, and even that is small compared to MK and Smash.

2016 will see WiiU rapidly fall off like all past Nintendo home consoles have done, there is nothing to suggest it will have a leggy lifespan.

I would actually put 2017 & beyond sales lower if a successor releases holiday 2016. N64 & GC were both discontinued pretty damn quick after the successor released.

But ya like u said, Zelda is really the only gauranteed major seller releasing next year but with Wind Waker HD+Hyrule Warriors already out, it's very possible a large chunk of the fanbase is already on Wii U.

Honestly lifetime Wii U sales might only be what Nintendo planned to ship by March, 2014. They originally forcasted 5.5 million in the launch window and 9 million in the first full year, totaling 14.5 million.

If it makes anyone feel any better I was playing Smash and Mario Kart with a bunch of my friends and they absolutely loved the 8 player Smash. 5 of them said they were going to pick up a Wii U, which I don't really except them all to.
But I feel like 3 of them will for sure.
So we're 3 closer? Huzzah!

Lol I have seen the same thing, alot of my friends/family members have really enjoyed the Wii U and seem legitimately interested in it when they played mine and claimed they want to get one but I doubt most of them will end up getting one. It seems as tho most people who do play Wii U enjoy it, they just aren't finding the need to purchase one.

It could be that Nintendo's local multiplayer and casual friendly approach just makes Wii U a nice every once in a while console that u play when at a friends or family members house who owns one.

I actually didn't expect to be as big if it released after the 3DS version. Especially in Handheldland. And Smash never was that big in Europe too.

2015 on the other side depends on some whens and ifs. If Wii U finally gets a real price cut, it could improve sales more or less, depending on how much it's cut.

If every game comes in time, there's much more exclusive releases in 2015. Again, there might be one or two games we don't know of yet. Im waiting for the next direc as well as E³.

I wouldn't overestimate that. If Nintendo makes to many mistakes again, Wii U will definitely sell worse than this year. If they finally do everything right, having to real long term console sellers out, a ton of exclusive stuff coming and one of their big franchises announced for late 2015 it could as well be Wii U's best year.

Agreed so much. But damn, the local multiplayer is tough to beat. But I know some of their approaches will just be to play it at my place, or a friends place who will have it, even though they do love it.

Regardless I still get the same enjoyment from the systems I do have, all I can do is give my opinions on my consoles to friends :)
