Wii U currently has free online. The other two have...what do you call a subscription for not online?

Totally agreed. I also live in Australia and was contemplatng getting a Wii U to accompany my PS4 but the 'deals' on the Wii U are really bad especially compared to the PS4 and Xbox 1 bundles. Both of those consoles play blu-rays also which many people gloss over whilst the Wii U does not. I could not care less about Wii backwards compatibility. For an underpowered console with no blu ray support and struggling sales it should be alot cheaper. Nintendo used to be alot more price conscious back in the N64 and Gamecube days but maybe that did not work out for the financially so they are trying a different approach now. It's their business but I'm not paying $400+AUS for a Wii U.

$270 with a game(hell even without) and I would have thrown my money at EB and Nintendo.

It came with Mario Kart 8 and Skylanders if i remember correctly. I was considering buying a second Wii U. It was that good.

Wii U isn't that overpriced at all, when you stop to consider that for the price you get:

Free online for ALL games.

Full 100% backward compatibility with all Wii games and most Wii peripherals.

The ability to transfer your WiiWare and VC games to Wii U.

A robust and continually growing eShop, with a ton of great digital content.

A growing and often-but-not-always fun and helpful Miiverse community.

And most importantly, a pretty great retail game library, even without many new third party releases.


Wii U, I would argue, still has the most bang for the buck right now, and the best selection of retail games out right now of any new console, as well as an eShop service with more and more and more digital games coming out for it and being announced in development for it every week. And considering next year they're adding Zelda, Xenoblade, Yoshi, Kirby, Devil's Third, Star Fox, etc. to the game lineup, that situation is only going to improve.

I also would be shocked if Nintendo didn't drop the price again in 2015. I'm fairly confident they will.

Well,I bought my 32gb WiiU+Smash Bros+Nintendo Land bundle for 220 euros - ¬270$.Not that bad of a deal I have to say :D.
